Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Benefits Specialist to join our growing team.

Role Summary:

The role reports to the Compensation and Benefits Manager and will primarily support the HR department by administering the various health and welfare and retirement benefit plans for the organization.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions include:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day administration of the organization's employee benefits programs, such as medical, dental and vision plans, life insurance and disability plans, 401(k), non-qualified, pension plans and retiree benefit plans.
  • Responsible for the management of the 401(k) plan with third party recordkeepers including weekly payroll funding and reconciliation.
  • Ensures benefit plans are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Lead the annual retirement plan non-discrimination testing, match true-up and audit processes.
  • Works with outside auditors in preparation of the retirement plan financials and associated Forms 5500.
  • Primary contact for the Benefits Call Center and handles escalated matters in an efficient manner that ensures timely resolution.
  • Responsible for the annual open enrollment process including implementing changes with benefit plan vendors and drafting communications to employees.
  • Responsible for development of wellness initiatives including targeted communications.
  • Collaborate with HRIS for new interface files and modifications of current files. Identifies benefits data integrity issues and coordinates the resolution of data integrity issues with necessary parties.
  • And other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or other related discipline OR equivalent combination of experience and education required
  • 5 years of benefits experience required
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel/Access/PowerPoint
  • Knowledge and experience with UltiPro or other HR/Payroll software required
  • Up to 10% travel

Certificates & Licenses:

  • PHR or SPHR a plus

  • Able to handle both routine tasks and be an agile contributor and learner, taking on new responsibilities

  • This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards
  • This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • This position requires compliance with all personnel policies
