SUMMARY - Provides an overview of purpose and expectations of the positionThe Dispatcher is responsible for the planning, scheduling and dispatching of our customers freight. The key responsibilities of this function are cultivating strong relationships with clients and provide them with information about orders, traffic, obstacles, and other requirements. Also, provide exceptional support to our drivers, be quick to respond to questions, troubleshoot concerns, and to pro-actively monitor the movement of freight to ensure customer satisfaction.Responsibilities & Essential Functions - Basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform; the reason the position exists is to perform these functions.Primary - This section should include responsibilities and essential functions that are highest priority and/or account for 40-90% of time spent each year in execution.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with others under any type of condition
Scheduling drivers to make freight deliveries or collect shipments and packages.
Communicating with customers about freight details, delivery or pickup times, and special handling requests.
Receive, update and process delivery order and customer order- /change location and appointment time if needed/
Planning pre-determined routes and accommodating route changes as needed.
Maintaining records of dispatched calls, driver routes, route changes, as well as delivery and pickup times.
Monitor the location of the fleet utilizing tracking system (ELD devices) and/or call drivers to check on them as needed.
Receive emergency and non-emergency calls and record significant information
Check estimated discharge time of containers still on vessel
Manage delivery schedule depending on load capacity.
Create Inbound & Outbound PIN for each driver for port transactions: outgate and ingate containers from and to the port
Manage all assets - trucks, chassis and containers
Assist drivers having issues on the truck and/or chassis on the road.
Secondary - This section should include responsibilities and essential functions that are moderate priority and/or account for 20%-40% of time spent each year in execution.
EIR ticket preparation and collection
Safety monitoring report: daily
Settlement report and settlement sheet collection
Check driver's attendance/performance
Calculate driver detention for port congestion and/or roadside service.
Work with accounting team for invoices /chassis fee/
Make invoice for owner authorities
Arrange backhaul pick up drivers.
Update export container information: seal#, booking#, cut off time, early return date
Tertiary - This section should include those responsibilities and essential functions that are lowest priority and/or account for 5%-20% of time spent each year in execution.
TWIC card, bagde and truck registration
Handling new drivers, explain their job scope and send detail information via email
Send chassis repair report as safety team requested.
Send container release requests to GPA
Education/Experience:Required: HS Diploma/GEDPreferred: Bachelor’s degreeRequired Experience: 1-2 years
