Job Title: Resident Relations Coordinator - Elderly

Department: REM

JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for resident initiative programs and assessing resident needs, developing and/or identifying programming to meet those needs, making resource information available to residents, and providing linkage to needed services for low-income residents. The goal is to effectively coordinate services for residents that will directly impact the residents’ ability to age in place.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages the development and implementation of resident initiative programs including technical assistance to resident associations; shall collaborate with community agencies to provide support services for residents; shall communicate the social service goals of BCHA to the residents, social service agencies, and the community at large.
  • Seeks out available funding; shall write new grant applications; may monitor, administer and/or coordinate activities of various grant programs.
  • Coordinates meeting and activities for elderly resident population.
  • Maintains rapport with residents and managers by maintaining continued contact; researching and developing new services and methods; setting priorities; resolving problem/crisis situation.
  • Develops strategies to link residents with needed services, including providing assistance to overcoming various barriers that might impede access to services.
  • Establishes and maintains partnerships with relevant organizations and individuals, with an emphasis on providing on-site services to residents.
  • Implements programs and essential activities through partnerships with other community-based service providers/organizations. When other service organizations are not available, may deliver direct services.
  • Provides general assistance and advocacy related to supportive and social services to all residents; provide up-to-date information and clarification regarding programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, entitlements, and formal supportive and social services.
  • Acts as liaison with local care providers and hospitals to assist in coordinating safe discharges from care facilities prior to residents returning to their homes.
  • Works cooperatively with residents and their families when planning for relocation to a nursing home or other long-term care facility is required.
  • Promotes a positive social climate that fosters residents’ psychosocial well-being by developing, implementing, and monitoring educational, recreational, and therapeutic programs for resident participation.
  • Identifies leaders among the residents to volunteer to manage aspects of service programs and social and recreational functions. Encourages volunteerism.
  • Empowers residents to meet their own needs through education, training, and accessing services for themselves.
  • Creates and distributes brochures, newsletter.
  • Documents contact with residents, providers, and families. Keeps resident files current.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director Real Estate Management,

Chief Operating Officer, and/or the Chief Executive Officer.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in the field of social work, public, or business administration, and three
(3) years of related experience in social or human services; or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Florida Driver’s License and reliable transportation are required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of a variety of research methods, evaluation and analysis procedures with ability to conduct studies and to analyze and formulate substantive recommendations based upon such studies.
  • Skills in interpersonal and professional communications, both oral and written, including public speaking, presentations.
  • Skills in the operation of a personal computer equipped with Microsoft Suite of software.
  • Skills in the practice of grantsmanship with the ability to identify and solicit outside funding sources.
  • Skills in customer/client service with the ability to resolve complaints and concerns in a professional manner.
  • Ability to comprehend, distill and apply relevant policy and procedure.
  • Ability to establish and maintain partnerships with organizations and individuals in effort to provide services to residents and the community.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to approach problems proactively and be solution focused.
  • Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of employees, residents, vendors, and community partners.
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve conflict.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is heavy work which requires exerting up to up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The work also involves regular sitting, using hands and finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; regular standing, walking; reaching with hands and arms; climbing stairs; balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling; talking or hearing. Work requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is typically performed in an outdoor environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $41,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
