Description

SUMMARY

Responsible for the overall medical services within the education department. Implements the strategic goals related to the quality improvement, policies, protocols and procedures sets forth by the organization’s medical officer. Develops systems to monitor and implement quality control standards and measurements while ensuring compliance with DCF, Childcare Licensing and other regulatory agencies standards and requirements.

Works in conjunction with the school director and medical officer, on the day-to-day functions of the facility in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern long-term care facilities to assure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to the Organization’s students at all times.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One year certificate from college or technical school; and one or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Maintains a complete, up-to-date health record
2. Monitors newly enrolled students in order to ensure that state law and district policy are implemented concerning health issues (i.e., immunization, medical records)
3. Advises and counsels students, staff and parents, as appropriate, concerning health issues
4. Provides referrals to school resources and/or community agencies as necessary
5. Provides first aid as needed.
6. Assists emergency care givers as applicable
7. Makes recommendations to the school director regarding health and safety to promote a safe, healthy and comfortable learning environment
8. Ability to prepare comprehensive reports, including writing report sections, integrating content, and formatting the report electronically when needed
9. Administers medication in accordance with state law and Company policy

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid license as a registered professional nurse in state

HIV & HIPAA Certificates

CPR/First Aid Certifications

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, medical instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
