Brother's Mechanical, Inc. is Hiring an Assistant Project Manager Near Lorton, VA

Job Overview:
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) is an important part of the Project Management (PM) Team that functions under the direction of the PM on a daily base on all aspects of project related tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform weekly on-site walk-throughs to ensure contract performance, safety

compliance, LEEDS compliance and quality control in accordance with BMI QC plan.

  • Take offs and estimating
  • Writing RFI’S
  • Write Purchase Orders after award while considering the project schedule
  • Specification & Drawings Review
  • Create and maintain project CPM schedule with deliverables milestone dates for all equipment and material.
  • Developing Submittals (RGD, Fixture, Drain, Piping Matrix’s, etc...)
  • Maintaining Logs (RFI, PCO, Submittals, etc...)
  • Participating in subcontractor and owner meetings
  • Participating in job turnover meetings
  • Preparation and delivery of close out and owner’s manuals
  • Build electronic job folders and subfolders
  • Participating in job cost review/budgets
  • Manage the day-to-day operational aspects of a project or portion thereof
  • Make budget and estimate conscious decisions
  • Manage the permits and applications
  • Participates in job cost status meetings with field personal
  • Administer document control procedures for all construction related activities (AHA’s, LEEDS, Start-up forms, testing forms, etc...)
  • Understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully
  • Communicating with design team and reviewing drawings
  • Learn how to prepare budgets and estimates
  • Communicating with vendors, subcontractors, and owners
  • Conducting project meetings
  • Developing, managing & enforcing construction schedule
  • Learn how to monitor and evaluate job cost reports
  • Learn how to price change order and perform takeoffs and estimating
  • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion before they become a real field problem

  • Learn the construction management disciplines, techniques and applications
  • Learn software and company procedures for managing projects
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

Goal:

- To Become a successful Project manager leading his own team and profit center for BMI

Qualifications:
- Organizational skills in order to coordinate tasks pertaining to construction projects.

  • Sufficient knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Sufficient knowledge of mathematics including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide

using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to compute and interpret charts and graphs.
  • Ability to schedule and prioritize all work assignments.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide

range of diverse individuals.

  • Ability to enforce and abide by all company rules and procedures.
  • Knowledge of construction plans and specifications.

Work Environments:

- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Efforts:

- Light, physical effort, which requires handling of average-weight objects up to 15 pounds and some standing and walking.

Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:00pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
