Brookline High School is looking for a thoughtful and collaborative computer science educator who thrives in a fast-paced, student-centered environment.
The candidate is responsible for creating a supportive, challenging, respectful classroom environment that fosters students’ natural curiosity while developing their skills and understanding of content. The candidate is comfortable employing a variety of appropriate instructional methods to meet the needs of all learners. The candidate is familiar 2016 Massachusetts Digital Literacy and Computer Science (DLCS) Curriculum Framework and has demonstrated experience with relevant curriculum. Additional subject matter knowledge will include strands and topics from the 2016 Massachusetts Science and Technology / Engineering Curriculum Framework (including HS-ETS-1 – engineering design, HS-ETS-2 – materials, tools, and manufacturing, and HS-ETS-3 – technological systems). The ideal candidate has the ability to contribute to program development and curriculum design in a meaningful way. The candidate possesses a demonstrated skill and working knowledge of various programming languages (i.e. Python, Java), as well as experience with secondary educational settings. Experience with physical computing (i.e. Arduino, Microbit, Raspberry Pi, Lego Robotics) preferred.
The ideal candidate prioritizes relationship building, has experience designing engaging learning experiences, loves working with high school students, and demonstrates enthusiasm for cooperative learning environments, both in their classroom and beyond it.
