St. Mary of the Assumption School, located in the heart of Brookline Village (67 Harvard Street), seeks an individual to teach middle school math and science. As a middle school math and science teacher at St. Mary of the Assumption School, your job responsibilities typically include:Planning and delivering rigorous math and science lessons: Develop lesson plans and learning activities that align with curriculum standards including objectives, incorporating various teaching methods and resources to keep students interested and engaged.Creating a positive learning environment: Foster a supportive classroom atmosphere where students feel comfortable expressing their ideas, asking questions, and participating actively in discussions.Teaching science content: Cover a range of science topics including Earth and Space Sciences, Life Science, Physical Science, and Technology/Engineering. Design, prepare, and implement projects and labs utilizing the Scientific Method and the Engineering Design Process.Teaching math content: Cover a range of mathematical topics investigating the number system, expressions and equations, functions, geometry, statistics and probability, and Algebra I. Incorporating critical thinking and analytical skills: Encourage students to think critically about evidence, analyze primary and secondary sources, and evaluate different perspectives on Assessing student progress: Use a variety of assessment methods, such as quizzes, tests, projects, and presentations, to evaluate student understanding and track their progress over time.Providing feedback and support: Offer constructive feedback to students on their work, helping them to identify strengths and areas for improvement, and provide additional support or resources as needed.Differentiating instruction: Recognize and accommodate the diverse learning needs and styles of students by adapting teaching strategies, materials, and activities to meet individual differences.Collaborating with colleagues and parents: Work closely with other teachers, administrators, and parents to support student learning and development, communicate academic progress, and address any concerns or challenges that arise.Continuing professional development: Stay updated on current trends, research, and best practices in math and science education through professional development opportunities, workshops, conferences, and ongoing learning.Fostering a love of science investigation and mathematical inquiry: Inspire students to appreciate the relevance and significance of science and math in understanding the world around them, cultivating a lifelong interest in the subjects.Participation in Catholic School community: Actively engage in the broader Catholic school community, participating in school events, religious celebrations, and community service activities. Collaborate with other teachers and staff to uphold the school's mission and values.Discipline and Classroom Management: Implement fair and consistent discipline policies aligned with the school's guidelines.
