Description
Purchasing agent will be responsible for researching and comparing suppliers, goods and services. Then, they select the most suitable ones in terms of reliability, product quality and cost-efficiency to ensure we receive all goods necessary for operations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Researching and comparing suppliers, goods, and services.
- Selecting the most suitable suppliers in terms of reliability, product quality, and cost-efficiency.
- Monitoring inventory levels and determining purchase needs.
- Requesting cost proposals and negotiating contracts and prices.
- Preparing and processing purchase orders.
- Maintaining records of all transactions, purchase orders, receipts, and payments.
- Scheduling and verifying purchase deliveries.
- Building and maintaining positive, long-term supplier relations.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand and react to dynamic customer needs.
- Work with receiving and finance to resolve issues and ensure accuracy.
- Assist in facilitating monthly and year-end inventory counts.
- Challenge spends and source alternative vendors to help mitigate rising costs.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a purchasing agent or in a similar position.
- Proficiency in CRM and inventory management software programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong organization and documentation skills.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
- Understanding of min – max inventory programs.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and time management.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Degree in business administration, procurement, or a related field preferred.
