Overview

A couple with multiple properties in Florida and New Jersey is seeking a highly skilled and experienced full-time live-out butler to take over the day-to-day management and running of those properties.

This role will be replacing their current butler of 15 years, who is retiring. The primary residence is in Jupiter, FL for most of the year with summers spent in NJ.

While in FL, the role is live-out. When in NJ, it will be live-in. There are also 12-14 weeks of the year when the family will be traveling and the butler will stay behind to oversee the properties.

The role needs the flexibility to travel between properties as needed. This position is seeking longevity as it is replacing the long-time family butler.

There will be an overlap for training.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate is someone hands-on, as the staff works together to provide a high level of service to the principals and their guests.

• Primary responsibilities include;
• Representing the principals
• Daily walk-throughs of the home and property
• Coordinating and supervising contractors and vendors
• Understanding and managing household computer systems
• Managing and scheduling household staff to ensure adequate coverage
• Overseeing and assisting the housekeeping staff as needed
• Maintaining the principal wardrobe, including ironing / steaming, repairs, sending to the dry cleaners, closet organization, purchasing / replacing hangers, drawer organizers, and shoe trees,
• Assisting in principal packing for trips
• Setting the table
• Serving meals, snacks, and beverages
• Performing wait service
• Maintaining plants and floral arrangements throughout the home
• Performing turndown service
• Assisting in the coordination of social functions and events
• Overseeing caterers / staffing for parties
• Managing inventories of china, crystal, silver, flatware, serve-ware, table linens, bar and glassware
• Coordinating travel logistics
• Driving the principals
• Monitoring the home
• Always being courteous, efficient, and accurate in handling phones, messages, doors, and deliveries, receiving guests, and supervising the reception of visitors
• Pet care will also include feeding, walking, and vet appointments
• At times, there must be availability for emergencies, often requiring travel at short notice

Qualifications

A hospitality background or experience and expertise in table settings, fine wines, and cocktail preparation

Prior formal butler experience

• Travel is required
• Must be tech-savvy
• Knowledge of smart homes
• Organizational and communication skills

• Prior knowledge of care for artwork, crystal, fine china, marble, fine linens, etc.
• It must be someone who posseses leadership qualities and is comfortable leading a team
• Valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record
• Legal to work in the US and have a US Passport, Green Card, or EAC
