The Sushi Shift Supervisor must have the necessary confidence, commitment, and motivation to move their staff and themselves towards success. Key personality and character traits needed to accomplish this are: patience, even tempered, humility, observant, perceptive, supportive, decisive, flexible, analytical, and consistent, an encourager and teacher. Must be self-motivated; having strong leadership skills; good listening skills, strong communication skills, extraordinary customer service skills; applied empathy; and possess a strong sense of urgency in all duties performed. They must know how to keep morale high among the Sushi department staff; serve the customers to develop and retain repeat business; keep the Sushi department clean and up to par with Bristol Farms Lazy Acres standards and lastly create an environment that’s welcoming, warm and friendly. Due to Bristol Farms Lazy Acres goals and structure, the Sushi Shift Supervisor should also be open to growth and expansion. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn addition to performing all required duties of a Sushi Clerk, the Sushi Shift Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of activities the Sushi department staff will perform. Responsibilities include; but are not limited to, planning, assigning, and directing work; staff development, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. The Sushi Shift Supervisor will assist in overseeing the selling of all related items of the Sushi counter. They are also responsible for carrying out the duties listed below (other duties may be assigned) Leads by example; models correct behavior and adherence to company policies and proceduresResponsible for using the tools provided by management to ensure the success of the departmentRequired to perform all essential duties of a Sushi ClerkFills customer’s orders as requestedMake sushi following Bristol Farms Lazy Acres instructions & recipes as providedOperates a cash register following established policies and proceduresResponsible for the accurate recording of customer transactions, including the acceptance of payment in accordance with Bristol Farms Lazy Acres cash register proceduresResponsible for accurate balancing of cash registerAssists with duties and examines work for compliance of policies and proceduresMust be knowledgeable of merchandise sold in the Sushi Department and educate customers and staff on preparation and use of merchandiseAssists with ordering, receiving, and merchandising Assists with orders of all Sushi all related items for the departmentPrices merchandise according to handheld scanner and verifies price against purchase order Reports/documents price discrepancies and “not on file” itemsProcesses purchase order for implementation at required deadlineResponsible for implementing and maintaining all marketing programsAssists in training & developing all Sushi Department employees in product knowledge, suggestive selling techniques, merchandising techniques, & customer service skills on an on-going basisAssists in conducting inventory, preparing for inventory, and inventory resultsAssists in the maintenance of inventory control especially for theft, shrink, & waste managementAssists with the price integrity and proper weights and measures as mandated by California State Laws Maintains a clean and sanitary work area at all timesKnows all cleaning chemicals authorized in the Sushi Department and understands proper usageAssists with all Sushi Department employees on proper use of cleaning chemicalsFollows the FIFO rotation system (First-in, First-out). Covers, labels, and dates all Sushi & products used in department. Utilizes leftover supplies & products before opening new productMaintains quality and sanitation in accordance with the FDA and local health departmental codes and Bristol Farms Lazy Acres stringent standardsFollows & enforces safety work standards and reports any safety hazards to the Manager of Service and/or Store DirectorAssists with monthly safety meetings and/or distributes monthly Safety News to staff within accordance to Cal Osha SB 198Documents all meetings/memos/postings and obtains employees signatures as requiredAssists with conducting accident investigations and completing all paperwork within accordance to Cal Osha SB 198Responsible for enforcing Bristol Farms Lazy Acres established Customer Service policies and guidelinesServes customers with a smile and willing attitude. Assures high sales through establishing relationships with customers to ensure repeat business & continued Sushi educationListens to customer complaints, examines returned merchandise, and resolves problems to restore and promote good public relationsAvailability requirements include; but are not limited to; days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnightAt all times, meets and exceeds Bristol Farms Lazy Acres standards in service, appearance, quality, cleanliness, and leadership Supervisory ResponsibilitiesCarries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Bristol Farms Lazy Acres policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with the training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Customer Service SkillsSushi Shift Supervisors are expected to provide customer service that is extra ordinary and exceeds the expectations of our customers. They are required to follow established policies and guidelines that go beyond simply smiling and greeting customers. Going above and beyond encompasses attitudes, respect, and flexibility. Sushi Shift Supervisors are expected to have a positive “can-do” attitude; to treat others with respect; and easily adjust to changes in the workplace. Education and/or ExperienceHigh School diploma or general education degree (GED); three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language SkillsAbility to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, or employees of Bristol Farms Lazy Acres. Knowledge of EnglishThis is a customer service driven position. The candidate must have the ability to speak, read and understand English fluently.
