Brightpoint is Hiring a Youth Program Mentor (Part-time, temporary) Near Chicago, IL

Brightpoint (formerly known as Children’s Home & Aid) invites you to join our team of mission-driven staff who share a common vision: an equitable world where all children and families thrive in strong communities. As a leader in the human services sector for 140 years, we aim to advance the well-being of children by investing in families and strengthening communities through data-informed, collaborative, and preventative solutions.

Brightpoint is seeking a part-time Youth Mentor to act as role models and advocates for the young people participating in our summer Illinois Youth Investment Program. As a mentor, you will provide guidance, encouragement, training, and support, and demonstrate a genuine interest in the well-being of your mentees. The Youth Mentor works a flexible, part-time schedule, and reports to the Program Supervisor. This is a temporary, 13-week position from June 17-August 9, 2024.

Candidate qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Have a high level of interest in working directly with youth and young adults.
  • Are knowledgeable about adolescent development and able to successfully develop relationships with youth based on trust and mutual respect.
  • Are able to work on-site as needed; valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle strongly preferred.

Job details:

  • Compensation: $18.29/hour
  • Location: Hybrid; some work will be complete at agency offices or program sites in the Metro Chicago area, with opportunities to also work remotely as applicable. Home office will be at the Marshfield site
  • Schedule: Part-time, hourly; general business hours with some flexibility to accommodate program participants’ scheduling needs.
  • Student Loan Forgiveness: Brightpoint is an approved agency for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
