AmeriCorps is Hiring a JUMP Mentor Assistant JUMP Juvenile Mentoring Program Near Chicago, IL
Service Description: Mentor Assistant Specialist is a 1-year commitment to complete a minimum of 300 hours for a living allowance of $3,000 and an Education Award of $1,459.26 upon successful completion of service hours. The Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s Office utilizes AmeriCorps members and volunteers to serve in the JUMP for Kankakee County Kids one-to-one juvenile mentoring and job readiness program. JUMP partners community leaders and professionals with court-involved teenage youth at risk of academic failure, truancy, or involvement in delinquent activities in Kankakee County, Illinois. AmeriCorps members and volunteers will be responsible for reducing truancy rates and increasing educational scores among the service population, while also placing mentees into full and part-time employment and internship opportunities. AmeriCorps members and volunteers will be engaged in mentoring the target service population, program oversight, attending mentee’s court dates, and providing regular updates/reports to the juvenile’s judge and/or courtroom advocates.
Member Duties : Member Duties: *Work directly with JUMP program personnel and mentors, to record match progression and visits* Provide and direct specific resources and support* Coordinate with court liaison and JUMP staff to track and compile reports* Work directly with and attend meetings with JUMP and AmeriCorps personnel * Assist with program development and program evaluation progress * Participate in monthly AmeriCorps program director calls * Assist with AmeriCorps recruitment * Market and promote AmeriCorps and the JUMP program* Other duties as assigned
