JOB TITLE: YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM MANAGER

FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT

REPORTS TO: DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF YOUTH SERVICES

Brighton Park Neighborhood Council (BPNC) is an intergenerational community-based organization dedicated to equity and racial justice. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for the working-class and immigrant populations of Chicago’s southwest side through grassroots organizing and providing free and accessible social services and quality programming for youth and adults.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Youth Employment Program Manager provides youth ages 16-24 summer employment opportunities and job readiness training. Through this program 50 youth are connected to meaningful work opportunities and work 20 hours per week for 6 weeks.

The Youth Employment Program Manager must possess excellent organizational and communication skills and must have the ability to relate comfortably to individuals of different racial/ethnic, economic and cultural backgrounds. In this role, the Program Manager will be responsible for identifying and engaging external as well as internal BPNC worksites and placing youth in worksites that meet their interests.

In addition, the Program Manager will be responsible for inputting data into the Cityspan Database and will work closely with BPNC’s accounting department to submit timely and accurate documentation. The Program Manager will also be responsible for the hiring, training and supervision of program coordinators.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prescreen, recruit, and interview 50 qualified youth to participate in the program
  • Assist youth in completing required paperwork for program
  • Enter program participants’ data into multiple utilized database systems in a timely manner
  • Identify and onboard participating worksites
  • Responsible for youth’s worksite placements
  • Responsible for coordinating and facilitating a program orientation
  • Collect documentation and maintain organized and up-to-date physical and electronic participant files
  • Responsible for hiring, training and supervising of program coordinators
  • Troubleshoots any issues involving participants and/or worksites
  • Responsible for scheduling presenters and/or facilitating some of workshops for youth
  • Verify youth attendance and input attendance into Cityspan
  • Responsible for completing end of program report and any required program surveys or assessments for youth and staff
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, staff trainings, supervisory sessions, and other duties as assigned by supervisor

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Education and/or experience working with high school age youth
  • Bilingual, both verbal and written in Spanish and English is required
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize job tasks
  • Great decision making and problem solving skills
  • Cultural Sensitivity
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Able to have flexibility around work schedule
  • Strong computer skills, including good working knowledge of G-Suite and database management principles and spreadsheets.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required. Must have the ability to effectively prepare and present information to various groups.
  • Able to work independently or with others to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision is essential.
  • Able to pass federal background check prior to starting the position

Pay: $48,000.00 per year
