Brighton Center is Hiring a Facilities and Safety Manager Near San Antonio, TX

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

This position plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing Brighton Center's facilities ensuring a healthy, safe, secure, and productive work environment for all team members. Implement and manage security and safety measures to safeguard facilities and a member of Crisis Management Team. Create and oversee comprehensive maintenance plans (day-to-day and preventative) based on Toyota Production System (TPS), ensuring smooth operations, and preventing issues before they arise. Supervise the facilities team, fostering collaboration, growth, and a shared commitment to excellence. Build relationships with external vendors, securing the best services and value for Brighton Center. Manage construction projects that enhance our facilities, fostering efficiency and productivity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of all facilities and grounds, prioritizing the health, safety, and well-being of Brighton team members, clients, students, vendors, and visitors.

Maintaining a Safe and Secure Environment (30%)

  • Supervise coordination of inspections of all facilities, identifying and resolving potential safety hazards (e.g., disarmed alarms, proper lighting, cleanliness, debris removal).
  • Manage facility access, including controlling keys and entry codes.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety of all outdoor areas.
  • Provides oversight and management to all physical security and safety elements at all of Brighton Center locations.
  • Ensures that all known possible precautions are considered and in place to prevent a potential security threat or breach to any of Brighton Center locations.
  • Implement and train on evacuation, lock down routes and emergency communication system.
  • Works as part of the Crisis Management Team to verify compliance with established emergency response protocols.
  • Respond to emergencies and unforeseen facility issues outside of regular work hours

Ensuring Facility Upkeep and Maintenance (30%)

  • Create, implement, and oversee comprehensive maintenance plans (Tier 1 and Teir 2) based on Toyota Production System (TPS).
  • Oversee all service requests and ensure service request are submitted correctly and tracked throughout completion.
  • Manage communication with team, vendors, and contractors regarding repairs and maintenance.
  • Ensure groundskeeping tasks, including debris removal, landscaping, and playground maintenance are completed in accordance with guidelines set.
  • Prioritize and manage tasks within budget guidelines and ensure completion on schedule.

Leadership and Staff Supervision (15%)

  • Manage full employment cycle, including interviewing, hiring, onboarding, payroll, oversee facilities team, conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching as needed.
  • Implements Brighton Center's core values and have the appropriate training to carry out their individual responsibilities and meet their performance indicators.
  • Manage the facilities budget effectively to maintain financial responsibility.
  • Special Project Management, oversee special construction projects undertaken within the facility.

Manage Vendor Relationships (10%)

  • Oversee and manage vendor relationships to negotiate competitive pricing, secure efficient service and completion of projects.
  • Solicit and compare quotes annually to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with vendors on complex repairs or new facility initiatives, overseeing the bidding process, ensuring adherence to financial policies, and managing project completion to satisfaction.

Inventory Management and Control (10%)

  • Maintain accurate inventory of all equipment, tools, and supplies utilizing TPS systems.
  • Conduct periodic audits and ensure proper tracking of issued items.
  • Manage supply levels within budget constraints.

OTHER FUNCTIONS (5%)

  • Attend meetings and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent
    • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in general maintenance and custodial work.
  • Landscaping, Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Painting, and Simple Mechanical Maintenance
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience, demonstrating strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills.
  • OSHA 10 certification

Preferred: Some college coursework in a relevant field (e.g., facilities management, construction trades).

  • Certification(s) in trade areas related to the position (e.g., carpentry, electrical, plumbing) and/or basic concepts of the Toyota Production System (TPS).

  • Possesses a personal vehicle with valid auto insurance and the ability to operate it safely or have reliable transportation
