Brandywine School District Terms of Employment: Casual/Seasonal Benefits Type: NonBenefited - Casual/Seasonal Reports To: Summer Elementary Academy Coordinator Salary: Your current hourly rate of pay (per diem) for instructional days; $32.00 an hour for Classroom prep/orientation days. Summer Dates: Inservice dates 06/20/24-06/21/24, Student dates: 06/24/24-7/25/24, and close out day 07/26/24. Job Goal: Under general supervision of the Summer Academy Coordinator, provides instruction, coordination, and management in class for the Summer Academy Elementary Program.
Qualifications:
  1. Must be Certified and Licensed in the Sate of Delaware for elementary education.
  2. Experience in various areas in the position identified above to successfully teach exceptional standards-based instruction (using curriculum provided) to promote academic growth for all students.
  3. Exceptional classroom management, organization, planning, instructional delivery, leadership, and technical skills and the ability to utilize differentiated instructional methods to engage students in positive learning experiences.
  4. Outstanding ability to motivate and build relationships with staff, students, and parents to promote student achievement and strengthen community partnerships.
  5. Demonstrated ability to use good judgment, follow through on assigned tasks, and maintain confidentiality.
Job Responsibilities:
  1. Participate in the pre-program preparation days.
  2. Participate in the planning and instruction of the summer curriculum for groups of students following the Brandywine School Districts' plan focusing on writing and Eureka/Zearn.
  3. Mitigate unfinished learning: Utilize research based best practices to address critical prerequisite skills and standards that students must know to advance in their learning.
  4. Accelerate learning: provide acceleration opportunities through looking ahead at key standards to ensure opportunity and access for all students.
  5. Monitor student progress toward achievement of instructional goals and write weekly and end of program progress reports if applicable to your position.
  6. Monitor and track attendance.
  7. Develop and nurture the emotional, cognitive, and social abilities of the students.
  8. Interact with students in a polite, caring, and respectful manner.
  9. Respond to student misbehavior appropriately and successfully.
  10. Demonstrate clear and accurate oral and written communication.
  11. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
  12. Work cooperatively with staff, students and parents.
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, use hands to the finger(s), handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, use fingers to type and/or write; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance, and color vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds. If lifting over this weight is necessary, the assistance of a second person is required. The physical demands of this position will also include the ability of the individual to perform all of the essential functions and related responsibilities of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Work Environment: This position normally performs the majority of work in a school building or work office environment.
