Position Overview:As a Cake Decorator you will be responsible for creating visually appealing and delicious cakes for various occasions for a grocery store. You will be utilizing your artistic skills to design and decorate cakes to customer preferences and specifications. Part-time Position RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborating with customers to understand their cake design preferences and specifications, themes and any other additional requestsUsing artistic skills to create and design visually appealing cake decorations, including frosting, icing and other edible decorationsPrepare cake batters, fillings and frosting according to established recipes and quality standarsCreating and developing innovative menus that meet the preferences of the target audienceBake and cool cakes to ensure proper consistency and textureAssemble and layer cakes applying fillings and frostings with precisionUsing a variety of decorating techniques such as piping, fondant etc to create the intricate designs and patternsIncorporating creative elements such as edible flowers, figurines and any other themed decorationsFulfill customer orders based on their requests for events such as but not limited to birthdays, weddings, holidays and moreFulfilling the customer orders on time and meet or exceed the customer expectationsInspect finished cakes for quality, consistency and adherence to the cake designAddressing and fixing any imperfections to meet customer expectationsManage inventory of cake decorating supplies such as frosting, icing colors, fondant etcFollowing all food safety and sanitation guidelines while maintaining a clean and organized work environmentProviding excellent customer service throughout the ordering and decorating processAdhere to all company safety standardsPerform other duties as assigned by leadershipEnvironment:Ability to work in varying temperature-controlled environments. Schedule:Flexibility to work various shifts, as needed including evenings, weekends and holidays.Part-time position Experience:Preferred: One (1) year cake decorating experience or relevant experienceServeSafe certification or comparable Skills:Physical abilities: May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature controlled environments; walking on a variety of flooring such as concrete, tile, carpet etcStrong communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basisOrganizational Skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlinesWorking in a team based environment: Working independently and as a team player to ensure our customers are receiving orders timely and with the highest quality Quality: Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling from all perspectivesSafety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shift
