Position Overview:As a Meat Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the meat department within the retail setting of a grocery store. You will be responsible for ensuring quality and freshness of meat products while providing excellent customer service. You will be driving labor efficiency, sales and gross profit margins in alignment with the store. RESPONSIBILITIES: Builds and maintains customer satisfaction with the product and services offered by the company. Maintain a happy, full, fresh and clean sales floor departmentTrain and supervise meat department staff ensuring adherence to established procedures and customer service standardsSchedule and coordinate shifts to have proper coverageProvide ongoing feedback, performance evaluations and training opportunities for meat employees Monitor meat inventory levels, ordering products such as but not limited to various cuts of meat and poultry to maintain a diverse and stocked selectionImplement inventory control measures to minimize and ensure freshnessEnsure that all meat products meet quality and safety standardsWork with suppliers to select and maintain high quality meat productsOversee the butchery and processing of meat products, ensuring the cuts are prepared based on company standardsEnsure meat products are presented attractively and in compliance with health and safety regulationsHandle customer inquiries, concerns and special requests in a prompt and professional mannerSetting and achieving sales targetsMonitoring sales performance and implement strategies to maximize profitabilityConducting regular safety training for meat department staffOversee the cleaning and maintenance of the deli equipment and work areasMonitor expenses, control waste and optimizing cost effectivenessCommunicate with store management regarding inventory, sales and any issues within the departmentAdhere to all company safety standardsPerform other duties as assigned by leadershipEnvironment:Ability to work in varying temperature-controlled environments. Schedule:Flexibility to work various shifts, as needed including evenings, weekends and holidays. Experience:Preferred: One (1) year meat management or butchery experienceServeSafe certification or comparable Skills:Physical abilities: May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature controlled environments; walking on a variety of flooring such as concrete, tile, carpet etcStrong communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basisOrganizational Skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlinesWorking in a team based environment: Working independently and as a team player to ensure our customers are receiving orders timely and with the highest quality Quality: Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling from all perspectivesSafety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shift
