Position Overview: As a Produce Clerk you are responsible for maintaining the freshness and presentation of fruits and vegetables within the store. You will be responsible for assisting customers as need as well as handling the proper rotation of fresh fruits and vegetables. RESPONSIBILITIES:Arrange and display fruits and vegetables in an appealing and organized manner based on store plan – o - gramsRotate products to ensure that the older items are sold before the new ones (First in, First Out)Inspect incoming shipments pf produce for quality and freshnessRemove any damaged or expired items to maintain highest level of qualityMaintaining quality standards of product throughout shift – working in a damage free mannerMonitor inventory levels and restock areas as neededAssist customers in location and selection of fresh produceProvide information on various fruits and vegetables as neededAnswer customer inquiries and address any concerns or issues related to department – communicating accordingly to leadershipKeep the produce department clean and sanitized which includes display bins and shelvesRemove products that do not meet store quality standards and dispose of according to store policiesCommunicate effectively with management regarding inventory levels, sales and any issues within produce departmentEnsure accurate pricing and labeling of all items and update/change price tags as neededPerform other duties as assigned by leadershipEnvironment:Ability to work in varying temperature-controlled environments. Schedule:Flexibility to work various shifts, as needed including evenings, weekends and holidays. Experience:Preferred: Zero to One (0-1) years produce/grocery experience Preferred: Knowledge of different fruits and vegetables as well as seasonality and storage Skills:Physical abilities: May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature controlled environments; the ability to operate required material handling equipment – getting on and off equipment throughout shiftStrong communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basisOrganizational Skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlinesWorking in a team based environment: Working independently and as a team player to ensure our customers are receiving orders timely and with the highest quality Quality: Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling from all perspectivesSafety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shift
