Position Overview:Part-time Position As a Deli Clerk you are responsible for preparing and serving deli department products, assisting customers with their orders while maintaining a clean and organized environment. RESPONSIBILITIES:Greet and assist customers at the meat counter, providing information on meat products, sales, specials and promotionsRotate products to ensure that the older items are sold before the new ones (First in, First Out)Take customer orders for sliced meats, cheeses and deli items ensuring accuracy and customer serviceSlice, weigh, and package meat products according to customer preferences and store policiesInformed on various products available which includes ingredients, preparation methods and storing methodsMake recommendations to customers based on their preferences and needsAnswer customer inquiries and address any concerns or issues related to department – communicating accordingly to leadershipMaintain cleanliness in the meat prep and service areas based on health department regulationsAdhere to food safety and sanitation standards which includes proper storage and handling of all deli productsRemove products that do not meet store quality standards and dispose of according to store policiesCommunicate effectively with management regarding inventory levels, sales and any issues within produce departmentEnsure accurate pricing and labeling of all items and update/change price tags as neededPerform other duties as assigned by leadershipEnvironment:Ability to work in varying temperature-controlled environments. Schedule:Weekday and Weekend hours as needed.Part-time Position Experience:Preferred: Zero to One (0-1) years retail/meat experience Skills:Physical abilities: May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature controlled environments; the ability to operate required material handling equipment – getting on and off equipment throughout shiftStrong communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basisOrganizational Skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlinesWorking in a team based environment: Working independently and as a team player to ensure our customers are receiving orders timely and with the highest quality Quality: Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling from all perspectivesSafety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shift
