Boy Scouts of America is Hiring a Human Resources Business Partner Near Irving, TX

Position Overview

As an HR Business Partner, you will influence and drive talent initiatives (e.g. recruitment, performance management, employee assessment, and development) while providing guidance and strategic direction to leaders of the National Council on human resources related issues. You will work with business leaders to solve people and cultural issues, and provide expertise in technical and regulatory aspects of employment including hiring, termination, compliance, performance management, federal and state leave laws and rewards. This position also includes collaborating with leaders to communicate and execute on key human resources business and talent initiatives to include but not limited to workforce planning, hi-potential employee development, and succession planning.

An ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in supporting the full breadth of Human Resources functions to include serving as a business partner to senior leadership and hold a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business or related field. The HR Business Partner will report the the Manager HR Business Partners.

Responsibilities
  • Consults with and serves as a liaison and support to organizational leaders on all human resource related issues. Provides advice, guidance, and recommendations for best practice to provide alignment and consistency with business objectives. Develop workforce plans and lead their implementation.
  • Advises leaders on strategies to grow talent and develop technical capability pipelines for the business unit.
  • Coaches managers in addressing employee relations issues.
  • Implements organizational structures that improve individual and organizational performance.
  • Supports implementation of standardized processes for the assigned business unit.
  • Supports change that enables the organization to thrive.
  • Provides consultation to leaders to deliver on their talent goals.
  • Leads the implementation of standardized HR processes for the assigned business unit.
  • Participates in the selection of candidates for senior positions.
  • Partners with COEs to drive performance management, learning and development and key people processes development.
  • Supports succession planning and talent reviews.
  • Manages change management planning and activities.
  • Participates in the execution of employee relations strategies and the resolution of complex issues – under the leadership and direction of legal.
  • Partners with learning and development team to facilitate training as needed.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Competencies:
Knowledge of: Compelling communication; quality orientation; and managing work. Familiar with the concepts of organizational design. Federal and State employment laws, rules, and regulations; job descriptions, qualification standards and human resources processes; Human Resources functions; human resources management principles and methods.

Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to build and maintain rapport with business clients. Exhibits documentation skills and organizational expertise. Skill in the use of a personal computer to include Microsoft Office programs and other software programs. Skill in expressing oneself clearly in business writing, organizing ideas clearly and speaking logically so others can follow the reasoning. Skill in using appropriate grammar and vocabulary that do not detract from credibility. Skill in communicating and producing effective outcomes to customers in a timely manner as to set expectation of delivery.

Ability to: Connect and communicate with all levels in the organization is essential; initiate action; and collaborate. Drive results and balance management of organizational risk with meeting goals of business. Work as part of a team and work independently to meet deadlines and targets. Ability to work in stressful, fast-paced employee relations situations or meeting project deadlines. Ability to develop recommendations and solutions with sensitivity to the issue, impact to organizational precedence, and desires of those affected by the recommendations. Ability to follow through on assignments, accept work assignments from multiple managers and work areas, and handle multiple and parallel projects. Ability to listen attentively to people’s ideas and concerns, paraphrase to ensure understanding, and defer judgment on what someone is saying and, instead, focus on finding out more (such as individual circumstances that are driving someone’s behavior), and tailor responses accordingly. Ability to build successful, collaborative, genial, and trusting relationships that contribute to personal effectiveness and the effectiveness of the work team. Ability to find nonthreatening ways to approach others about sensitive issues, help others feel comfortable by responding in ways that convey interest in what they have to say, and manage own behavior to prevent or reduce feelings of stress. Ability to use good judgment in sharing information and maintaining confidentiality.

Education
  • BA in Human Resource Management, Business or related field.
Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in a similar or related role preferred
  • Must have extensive experience supporting the full breadth of Human Resources functions
  • Ability to connect and communicate with all levels in the organization is essential
  • Must pass a criminal history background check.
  • To meet the expectations of this position, it is essential the individual be willing and able to travel as required.

Preferences: SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
