Summary:

Boulder Medical Center (BMC) is seeking medically trained candidates to join our Orthopedics team as a Medical Assistant/Scribe! This position is benefit eligible working 32 hours per week Monday - Friday.

Job Summary:

BMC is currently seeking a Medical Scribe to work in our Orthopedic practice at our Broadway location in Boulder. This position is full-time, working a total of 32 hours per week Monday through Friday, and is benefit eligible. In general our clinic hours are 8 am to 5 pm, so candidates can enjoy evenings, weekends, and major holidays off.

Scribe job duties include but are not limited too:

• Accompanies the provider into the exam room to accurately and efficiently document the encounter.
• Demonstrates proficiency with medical terminology in all documentation.
• Lists all proper admission or discharge diagnoses as well as follow-up care instructions as dictated by provider.
• Documents the time and reasoning for patient orders including lab tests, radiology tests and medications. Does not submit lab orders electronically.
• Successfully navigates the location-specific Electronic Medical Record (or EMR) system to input documentation.
• Inform provider when diagnostic studies are completed, prepare for review, and document in EMR.
• Concentrates on the needs of the provider throughout the entire shift.
• Understand and observe legal concepts (e.g. HIPAA, confidentiality).

Experience and Skills:

Skills and Abilities:

• Proficiency with at least one major EMR platform (such as Epic, NextGen, Greenway, etc.).
• Exposure to multiple EMR platforms is highly desired.
• Broad knowledge base of cardiology practices, knowledge of acute practice based on skill level, licensure and scope of practice.
• Good history-taking skills, strong, competent computer skills.
• Accurate and complete documentation skills.
• Good time management and organizational skills.
• Relate well and communicate with patients, providers, and staff.
• Able to demonstrate self-direction in establishing priorities and working with little supervision.
• Able to maintain high level of precision in judgment, accuracy of assessment, and skill in problem solving under stress based on skill level, licensure and scope of practice.

Education:

• Completion of an approved course of Medical Assistant study. Must possess current MA certification or registration from an accredited entity.
• College Students with completed four (4) bachelor's degree are required to submit transcripts for Nursing Department Approval.
• Current EMT certification will also suffice needs of MA education and Certification

Previous Experience:

• 1-2 years’ experience as a medical scribe in a hospital or clinic setting, preferred.

Initial Training on the Job:

• Three (3) months.

Salary Range:

• $16.69-$20.86/hour; depending on experience.
