Summary

Boulder Medical Center (BMC) is currently seeking Medical Scribes to join our Dermatology team! This position is full-time working 40 hours per week Monday through Thursday, 7:30 am - 5 pm. This position is benefit eligible and will enjoy evenings, weekends, and major holidays off.

Job Duties:

• Accompanies the provider into the exam room to accurately and efficiently document the encounter.
• Demonstrates proficiency with medical terminology and billing & coding knowledge in all documentation.
• Lists all proper admission or discharge diagnoses as well as follow-up care instructions as dictated by provider.
• Documents the time and reasoning for patient orders including lab tests, radiology tests and medications. Submits lab orders electronically.
• Documents any procedures performed by provider.

Skills and Abilities:

• Must be able to recognize and identify patient’s symptoms and use appropriate professional judgment in course of action.
• Proficiency with at least one major EMR platform (such as Epic, NextGen, Greenway, etc.)
• Exposure to multiple EMR platforms is highly desired
• Broad knowledge base of cardiology practices, knowledge of acute practice based on skill level, licensure and scope of practice.
• Good history-taking skills, strong, competent computer skills
• Accurate and complete documentation skills
• Good time management and organizational skills.
• Relate well and communicate with patients, providers, and staff.
• Able to demonstrate self-direction in establishing priorities and working with little supervision.Able to maintain high level of precision in judgment, accuracy of assessment, and skill in problem solving under stress based on skill level, licensure and scope of practice.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant course of study or coursework in medical terminology, preferred.

Previous Experience:

• 1-2 years’ experience as a medical scribe in a hospital or clinic setting, preferred.

Salary Range:

• $16.54 - $21.50 / per hour; depending on experience
