Summary:

Boulder Medical Center (BMC) is seeking Medical Assistants (MA) candidates to join our local Float Pool team of healthcare professionals as Medical Assistant (MA) / Admin. This position is full-time 40 hours per week Monday through Friday. This position is also eligible for a differential and mileage reimbursement.

Job Perks:

  • Part-time employees are eligible for medical / dental / vision, company-paid life insurance, voluntary benefits, RTD EcoPass, 401(k), and holiday pay (if regularly scheduled to work on an observed holiday).
  • Day shift schedules are Monday through Friday. There are occasional voluntary four (4) hour shifts on Saturday mornings from 8 am - 12 pm for several primary clinics (Family Medicine and Pediatrics).
  • Experience working in both primary care and specialty care clinics.

Front Office Job Duties:

  • Answers the telephone promptly, evaluating patient needs to determine appointment type.
  • Summarizes appointment details prior to ending the phone call.
  • Manages all phone functionalities such as transfers, placing callers on hold, forwarding phone to afterhours message system, etc.
  • Accurately records patient name, numbers and demographic information using correct spelling and punctuation.
  • Schedules / reschedules / cancel appointments according to provider preference and scheduling protocol.

Back Office Job Duties:

  • Supports the provider in a variety of patient care duties and performs related clerical duties in accordance with the area assigned
  • Rooms patients, collects vitals and records all medical information in the patient’s EMR
  • Prepares exam rooms for provider’s use, collects specimens, administers and documents all prescribed, OTC medication and drug samples per protocols
  • Maintains equipment and medical supplies
  • Performs administrative/clerical duties such as filing, phone calls, and faxing


Required Experience:

  • Must be able to recognize and identify patient’s symptoms and use appropriate professional judgment within scope of practice
  • Strong computer skills w/ability to record information accurately and timely
  • Good time management and history-taking skills
  • Good communication skills w/ability to relate well with patients, providers and staff
  • Able to demonstrate self-direction in establishing priorities
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain phone etiquette using tact and diplomacy.
  • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills.
  • Must possess strong grammar and spelling ability as well as the ability to read, write and understand the English language.
  • Neat, well-groomed appearance and courteous manner.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA compliance, preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an approved course of Medical Assistant study. Must possess current MA certification or registration from an accredited entity.

Education Requirements:

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant (MA) education program.
  • Active EMT and / or Surgical Tech certification are acceptable credentials to substitute Medical Assistant (MA) education.
  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree with an concentration in science / health sciences are acceptable credentials to substitute Medical Assistant (MA) education. Applicant(s) must submit unofficial college transcripts for Medical Assistant (MA) job placement approval.

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinic setting, preferred.

Salary Range:

  • $18.36 - $23.50 - Depending on experience.
Location:
  • This position is expected to travel between all five site locations in Boulder, Erie, Longmont, and Louisville, CO in Boulder County, CO. This position is also eligible for a differential and mileage reimbursement.
