Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization is Hiring a Human Resources and Operations Assistant Near Boston, MA

Description

The Central Transportation Planning Staff of the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization seeks a Human Resources and Operations Assistant. The Human Resources and Operations Assistant performs broad administrative and staff support duties, such as recruitment, maintaining personnel files, and general office management. The Human Resources and Operations Assistant works closely with the human resources staff on job listings and hiring plans.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to staff, assisting in daily office needs and managing the agency’s general operations activities
  • Assists with the talent acquisition process, job descriptions and advertisements, interview scheduling, and generating offer letters
  • Coordinates and assists with the onboarding process for new staff
  • Maintains personnel files while following retention standards, including preparing employee files and the maintenance of records
  • Performs periodic research or article/industry review on performance development, training, employee engagement, and other related topics
  • Assists staff with general procurement needs
  • Coordinates business travel arrangements for staff
  • Assists with coordinating staff training programs
  • Manages and executes office operations
  • Serves as the facility contact for building services

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Associate degree in Human Resources Management or a related field such as Personnel Management or Business Administration
  • At least two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in a human resources or administrative role
  • Strong interpersonal skills, documentation skills, and research and resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task with attention to detail
  • Full understanding of human resources functions and best practices
  • High level of discretion with confidential materials
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace
Preferred Skills/Abilities
  • Familiar with human resources and recruitment applications, such as Neogov
  • Experience working with Asana or other related project management software
  • Experience working with Deltek Vision or other financial management software
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times when moving office-related equipment

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time position, and the starting salary range is $51,000–$61,000 annually, contingent upon qualifications and experience. The agency offers excellent Massachusetts state employee benefits; a flexible, supportive work environment; and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

The Central Transportation Planning Staff of the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization is a public agency made up of a passionate group of transportation planners, analysts, modelers, programmers, and engineers working to address the Boston region’s transportation challenges. The agency’s deep transportation knowledge is an essential asset to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), regional transit authorities, cities and towns within the region, as well as other agencies and stakeholders.
The agency has a hybrid schedule, combining time in the office with remote work. Employees must reside within a commutable distance from the Central Transportation Planning Staff’s office, which is located in downtown Boston, in a transit-oriented and bicycle-friendly area.
Candidates must have legal authorization to work in the United. All employees are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination status. A Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check must be completed if the position is offered. However, a criminal record is not an automatic bar to employment.
