Boston Public Schools Office of Multilingual and Multicultural Education (OMME) is seeking a few BPS paraprofessionals to work as childcare providers at the DELAC Conference event on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 4:30-9:00 PM. Childcare Providers will oversee the safety and the activities of the children whose parents are attending the event while also motivating them to use their mental capacities and exercise their imagination.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set up before the event and clean up at the end of the event
Design and follow a full schedule of activities and discover suitable lesson material
Balance your instruction between logical and social exercises
Provide basic care and activities
Use a wide range of instruction methods (stories, media, drawing, etc) to enhance the child’s abilities
Observe children’s interactions and promote the spirit of peace
Identify behavioral problems and determine the right course of action
Collaborate with other colleagues
Adhere to paraprofessional childcare standards and safety regulations as established by the Boston Public Schools.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Proven experience as a classroom paraprofessional
Excellent knowledge of child development and up-to-date education methods
Methodical and creative
Patience, flexibility, and love for children
Strong communication and time management skills
Certificate in first aid and CPR
Ability to work and stand for extended periods
It may require bending or stooping.
QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED:
Ability to speak a second language (Preferably Second language speaker )
