Boston Consulting Group is Hiring a Growth Tech Director Near Boston, MA

As the Director for BCG’s Growth Tech segment, you’ll be accountable for building and driving our Strategy alongside our MDP cohort as we look to build on and scale our work with most cutting-edge and fastest growing Tech companies in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) Practice. Our wider Technology Sector (in the TMT Practice) has averaged double-digit growth over the last several years and serves clients across the globe. In Growth Tech we have a strong and rapidly growing footprint in North America and AP (SEA, India in particular) and are seeking to ~triple the size of our business over the next couple of years.

The Growth Tech Director would be responsible for four things:

  • Driving the business build – requiring a passion and flair for scaling our efforts including identifying and driving key growth opportunities for the business; mobilizing best of BCG/Growth Tech across the globe, in key growth geographies/sectors

  • Brand building and increasing visibility - by shaping and investing in IP and product agenda working with our Managing Directors, Senior Consulting team members and Knowledge Team; ensuring exchange of ideas and learning across geographies; and working with our Marketing team and 3rd party partnerships to scale presence at high-visibility events

  • Growing the team - by identifying and affiliating a core team of practioners and establishing strong culture and overseeing communications, as well as identifying and supporting expert and lateral hiring efforts to address key pipeline and capability gaps

  • Building our G2M muscle and operations – shaping and defining our leadership model and rhythm, defining and shaping key client priorities and identifying potential investments

  • Working as a team player that can independently collaborate with other functions or teams on initiatives/recurring issues to find solutions or establish best practices

  • Managing ambiguity with a very high level of comfort – not requiring a reference guide for each process but willing to use independent thinking and judgement to move forward

  • Bringing a positive and collaborative approach to teaming with multinational colleagues

  • Owning, structuring and driving significant and fast-paced workload

  • Earning the respect of a very senior cohort, all MDPs, that are remotely located, juggling the various priorities and viewpoints of the Segment Leadership Team

  • Operating effectively in a matrix organization with the ability to prioritize/make decisions; working collaboratively with peers in our Sector teams

  • Efficiently and effectively managing a fragmented portfolio with an ability to very effectively multi-task and drive to quick insights and crisp deliverables, bias to action and impact

  • Working independently to identify need for, scope, gain endorsement and drive implementation of commercially impactful initiatives

  • Leading others including senior leaders in clarifying problems and developing solutions by building consensus, persuading and influencing

  • Motivating others to deliver highest standards, providing direction and coaching

  • 10 years of relevant consulting experience; Master’s degree/MBA preferred

  • Ability to lead more complex, broader sub functional teams or projects fully independently and provide direction to others

  • Ability to resolve complex issues and non-defined problems autonomously

  • Self-starter/motivator—bring solutions, not problems – and good at prioritizing

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Advanced knowledge in Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Strong interpersonal skills, credibility, excellent team player

  • Ability to influence senior members of the Practice Area and beyond

  • Ability to respect sensitive client, BCG, and people related information as personal and confidential

  • Global mobility – experience with and willingness to work with international teams and travel 10% (post-COVID)
