Boston Consulting Group is Hiring an Administrative Services Manager Near San Francisco, CA

The role of Administrative Services Manager (ASM) at BCG is an exciting opportunity for a leader who is passionate about developing administrative professionals to deliver best-in-class administrative support to both our senior consulting team and our clients.

Collaborating closely with North America Administrative Services leadership and the local Business Management Leader (BML), the ASM is responsible for the management of a team of administrative professionals collocated at our San Francisco Bay Area office, as well as remote management of admins in other offices on the west coast. The responsibilities of this role will include:
  • Directly line manage a team of up to 20 Executive Assistants and Sr. Administrative Assistants, ensuring high performance and professional development.
  • Oversee team operations to maximize effectiveness and efficiency, including support assignments, issue resolution, schedule coordination, timesheet management, and task prioritization. 
  • Partner with North America Administrative Services Leadership and local office leadership to implement BCG policies and guidelines effectively within the local context. 
  • Manage all aspects of the administrative employee lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, ongoing performance development, feedback collection and promotion processes. 
  • Drive local execution of Administrative Services functional initiatives to enhance service delivery and support to local staff. 
  • Foster a collaborative approach to teaming with peer Administrative Services teams across North America, other Business Services teams, and local Consulting Teams. 
  • Drive continuous improvement in quality, morale, knowledge, and teamwork of the EA/AA team through proactive communication and involvement.
  • Act as a key liaison between assistants and stakeholders, ensuring resource allocation meets client needs effectively and maintaining productive relationships. Advocate for the team’s needs while aligning with broader business objectives, and proactively address any expectation misalignments with stakeholders. 
  • Team Leadership and Development: You have a proven track record of leading administrative teams towards achieving excellence. Your leadership style is inclusive and motivating, fostering a high-performing work environment where feedback is actively encouraged, and professional growth is supported. You possess a deep understanding of what it takes to be a high-performing Executive Assistant and are adept at mentoring and developing administrative professionals. 
  • Administrative Service Excellence: You are passionate about delivering best-in-class support services and consistently seek ways to enhance service quality. With a strong service orientation, you excel in responding sensitively to customer needs, paying attention to detail while maintaining a strategic view of the broader objectives.

You effectively partner with senior consulting staff, local Business Management Leaders, and regional Administrative Services leadership. Skilled in acting as a liaison, you ensure clear communication and align administrative services with the strategic needs and goals of your stakeholders, managing escalated and sensitive issues with composure.  
  • Adaptability and ability to work under pressure: Your adaptability is key in a dynamic environment, where priorities can shift rapidly. You are adept at leading your team during critical incidents and ensuring minimal impact on operations, maintaining a calm and collected demeanor while effectively prioritizing and resolving issues.  
  • Exceptional communication skills: You are a strategic communicator who can influence and motivate staff across a spectrum of experience and seniority, ensuring clarity, engagement, and alignment within your team and those they support.  
  • Problem solving & decision making: You are skilled in identifying and triaging support issues while strategically crafting solutions. Your sound judgment and critical thinking skills enable you to resolve many challenges independently. When necessary, you know when to seek additional input or escalate issues to ensure effective resolution.  
  • Leadership by example: You perform your role with the utmost integrity, earning trust and safeguarding BCG's interests. You treat everyone with respect, demonstrating a growth mindset by proactively seeking feedback and opportunities for self-improvement. Your approach embodies perseverance and creates an inclusive working environment that values diverse perspectives. 
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5 years of experience in a professional setting (preferred)
  • 2 years of management experience in a fast- paced environment (preferred)
  • Experience managing teams of varying tenures and abilities
  • Familiarity with working in a matrixed organization
  • Well-versed in MS Office, specifically PowerPoint
