Mid Level Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the project Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager, the Communications Specialist provides support directly to our customer, which comprises a federal staff of four, including an Outreach Lead. The Communications Specialist will work most closely with the Outreach Lead and provide support executing the office’s near-term plans that include activities such as outreach, education, training, marketing, relationship building, website content development, and creation of reports and presentations. The Communications Specialist also directly supports the office Director (examples include development of talking points and/or talk tracks, engaging stakeholders on the Director’s behalf). The Communications Specialist will need to author original content and manage the development of content in support of communications materials developed for government clients. In this role, you will have the opportunity to interact with a diverse group of individuals across all levels of the government’s General Schedule because of the mission of our federal customer. Essential Functions: Develop a communications engagement strategy based on the existing communications plan and oversee the associated activities. Schedule regular outreach exhibitions in the community and educate government users on community responsibility. Represent the organization externally in user community engagement program related activities and events. Create a stakeholder and user community communication strategy and an annual implementation plan. Organize meetings, events, and seek out opportunities to make our organization's presence known. Relay user community feedback to clients, internal and external stakeholders. Contribute to development of status reports, presentations summarizing progress against program goals, objectives. Analyze SharePoint website and recommend strategies for improving content and messaging. Liaise with other departments, offices, stakeholders, collaborative partners to nurture relationships and facilitate discussions. Present information to clients, senior leadership, stakeholders, users in both formal and informal settings. Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, workshops, appearances, and other communications opportunities. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Possess strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design skills. Possess the ability to - translate complex concepts into easily understood written documentation. verbalize complex concepts at the appropriate level based on audience (e.g., leadership vs non-leadership) and venue (e.g., formal vs informal meetings, presentations, one-on-one conversations). listen actively during conversations, meetings, presentations and other forms of engagement and respond accurately with an appropriate amount of detail. organize and prioritize many simultaneous tasks while keeping both company leadership and client leadership well informed of progress. pivot work quickly and adjust work outputs to reflect changing needs of the customer. Understand how to create informational documents in various formats (reports, presentations, web-based content) across different platforms (e.g., Microsoft Office products, websites, social media) and how to maximize the benefits of each approach. Understand how to build or improve stakeholder relations through targeted outreach. Proficiency leading projects individually with minimal direction. Proficiency with PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office Products (Word, Teams, Excel). Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Possess a friendly, enthusiastic, and positive attitude. Detail-orientated with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time. Self-starter who thrives on thinking outside the box in highly dynamic environment and works well in a team setting. Problem solver with a strong results-driven focus. Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university. 3 – 6 years of related experience. Preferred Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience: Degree in a related field preferred. Physical Job Requirements: This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated) more than half the time. This position requires the ability to spend more than half the time viewing computer monitors. Clearance Requirements: US Citizenship is required. DHS Suitability Clearance Required Must be able to pass a standard background check. Primary Work Location: This position is based in Washington, DC. Until further notice, this position will remain in a remote work posture with the potential for a minimal number of meetings on-site at the client's location. Travel Requirements: This position may require long-distance travel up to 5% of the time.
