Job Description


Job Title: Foodservice Account Manager

Salary Range: $65,000-$95,000

Location: Santa Maria, CA

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

Sales and Marketing is responsible for the planning, marketing, sales, and distribution of produce grown by Bonita Packing Co. The department is segmented into 4 areas, Product Management/Purchasing (field facing, allocation of SKU, flow management, pricing), Account Management, Account Specialist (assist Account Managers), and Marketing (not consumer but customer driven marketing).

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As the Food Service Account Manager you will be responsible for driving the organization’s business development strategies, enhancing its current portfolio, and exploring new business opportunities across the “Food Service” industry. You will report directly to the VP of Sales.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Business Development: Identify and Engage Blue Chip fresh produce purchasing companies in Food Service.
  • Directs the preparation, approval, and execution of the capture plan, schedule, win strategy, and budget associated with business opportunities for an organization.
  • Influences and collaborates with internal and external team members to identify new business opportunities and produce winning solutions to enable acquisition of new business for the organization and its customers.
  • Identifies and targets specific agencies for growth opportunities based on past performance and contract placement, establishes leads with and contacts potential customers, and formulates strategies and plans to close on the opportunities.
  • Enhance and expand our current customer portfolio across all verticals, build pipeline of new Buyers within Food Service.
  • Create strategic C level outreach and networking plan and build relationships with Senior level executives to drive market growth at the highest level.
  • Along with our VP of Sales, develop a full range of marketing strategies and deployment targeted at our ideal customer profile by vertical.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • 10 years of overall Business Development experience with demonstrated career progression throughout career
  • 5 years of Business Development within the fresh produce industry, with some experience working within a fast growing company is preferred
  • 2 years specifically targeting and closing large strategic accounts
  • Experience working with fresh produce or other similar industries preferred
  • Successfully prospected and acquired new large/complex customers and maintained relationships
  • Demonstrated success and enjoys working in fast-paced business environments, executing in the face of ambiguity and constant change
  • Used an analytical, data-driven approach to problem solving and a track record of driving results through continuous improvement through complex process and systems
  • Been formally trained and have consistently used a sales/account management methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and as a part of a collaborative team. Ability to prioritize deadlines & projects, including coordinating the efforts of multiple contributors, and establish time frames for completion of projects and assignments.
  • Willingness and ability to embrace and follow the Bonita Packing Co. Employee Handbook. Ability to interact constructively and employees at all levels, upper management, owners, and community members, with diverse personalities and cultures, exercising sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy with an emphasis on flexibility, customer service and professionalism.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing, including effective writing skills to prepare correspondence, various documents and reports, and email with knowledge of correct usage of English language, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Willingness and ability to meet Bonita Packing and department standards for attendance.

Desired:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Windows operating systems and related business and communication software and a demonstrated ability to learn and use various campus administrative computing systems and applications including, but not limited to itrade, Foodlink, and Procurant with the ability to update and expand skills as needed.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strong verbal communication and negotiation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Employee must have the ability to walk, talk, hear, see, speak, concentrate, reach in all directions, stoop, bend, lift up to 60 lbs.

  • Possess the ability to reason and communicate clearly with or without reasonable accommodation.
