Position Description

The Project Controls Analyst is responsible for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and statistical analysis of project, regional, and company performance and trends. A successful analyst will use data gathered at a field level to help increase margins, improve bids, and identify potential risks. This is an entry level position that requires strong critical thinking skills and the ability to communicate across the organization.


Responsibilities

Project Controls Analysts will report to the Director of Business Systems - work closely with Estimators, Field Operations, and Finance to bring a quality product to our customers. Some of the responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring Projects
    • Monitoring project level KPIs. An analyst provides insight into project metrics in support of Project Managers and the operations department. A strong analyst will identify positive trends for operations to reinforce and negative trends to correct.
  • Task Evaluations
    • Analyzes tasks across job and regions for performance trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Post Completion Project Reporting
    • Manages cost comparison and as-bid analysis of projects. Collaborates with Estimators on project post-mortems ensuring they have the most accurate and up to date cost and operational information to use in customer bids.
  • Communication
    • Analyst will have strong communication skills. They will be responsible for communicating project and task performance across various levels of the company, from field supervision to the executive suite in both written and verbal form.

Position Requirements


  • B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (OR) Three (3) years of experience in Project Management or Project Controls (OR) Field experience in the industry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, and to prioritize and work in a multi-tasked environment.
  • Ability to perform and take initiative to learn new skills in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • IT/IS Capabilities: familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Project); minimum intermediate skill with Excel and Google Sheets; Basic knowledge of accounting systems. Familiarity with project tracking software, specifically B2W, is a plus.
  • Position is in the office in Northampton, MA. Travel will be minimal, but occasionally will require out-of-state project visits.
  • Knowledge of Lean construction methodologies, construction methods and principles, and safety hazards.
  • Possesses excellent analytical and organizational skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills.
