    District Board Certified Behavior Specialist/Coach:

    Job Summary:
    Provide direct and consultative services for students, providing training and work collaboratively with administrators, teachers and support staff to demonstrate best practices, strategies, and interventions to enhance instruction for students with social, communication, and behavior challenges.
    • This job reports to the Special Education Director
    • This position is a Full Time benefits eligible position.
    • The starting salary for this position is $40,000 - $90,000. Salary will be commensurate with experience and education.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develops, implements and monitors strategies for positive student behavior Model strategies by working directly with students and staff
    • Makes periodic visits of environments to assure established behavior strategies are implemented
    • Develops and conducts trainings for school administrators, teachers, staff, and parent in various intervention strategies
    • Conduct classroom observations and classroom environment Conducts student functional behavior analysis assessment Identify methods for collecting data related to behavior
    • Determine positive behavioral supports and interventions within the school and classroom setting
    • Work with staff to evaluate effectiveness of positive behavior supports and interventions and recommend adjustments as needed
    • Maintain confidentiality
    • Perform other duties, as assigned

    Ability to:

    • Demonstrate an understanding and receptive attitude toward exceptional needs students of varied age groups
    • Ability to work with students who exhibit behaviors and provide support and professional learning for staff who work with such students
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with children and adults contacted in the course of work
    • Understand, carry out and communicate oral and written directions
    • Utilize consulting skills to assure implementation and maintenance of intervention plans Conduct and supervise functional behavior and functional analysis assessments
    • Provide training, assistance and guidance to school staff in behavioral intervention procedures
    • Maintain accurate records and files, and prepare documents and reports Be flexible and receptive to change
    • Attend in-service training, conferences and meetings, as needed.

    Knowledge of:

    • Proper English usage, grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation
    • Methodologies, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) used to address the needs of children with behavioral challenges, including autism
    • Knowledge of intervention strategies, ability to apply a gradually progressive system of verbal and non-verbal strategies to effectively deescalate potentially dangerous situations
    • Strategies for the development and implementation of positive behavior intervention plans and current accepted best practices included in the full continuum of placement options for students with autism and other behavioral challenges
    • Applicable directives, standards, procedures, policies, rules, regulations, codes, laws and guidelines governing special education, particularly those relating to positive behavior interventions
    • Accepted analysis and assessment procedures, including functional analysis, ecological analysis of settings, and systematic observation
    • Data tracking and collection, record management and reporting methods

    Qualifications:

    • Preferred National Board-Certified Behavior Analyst
    • 4 years successful school or clinical experience
    • 4 years of experience with implementation of School-wide Positive Behavioral Supports; experience with developing and implementing student specific programs for student and group setting
    • Ability to establish rapport and work collaborative with staff in multiple buildings Knowledge of and experience with determining function of a behavior Knowledge of evidence-based strategies for addressing behavioral concerns
