    Teacher Aide – Stretch Program needed in the Blue Springs School District, Blue Springs, MO.

    Job Summary:
    The role of a Teacher’s Aide is to assist the lead teacher in delivering instruction on district approved curriculum as well as support students and assist with other tasks to enhance the learning environment.

    • This position is a Full Time (179 day, 7.5 hours per day agreement), Benefits Eligible
    • The position starts at an hourly rate of $19.00. The range of annualized pay for this position is $25,507.50 – $35,173.50. Salary will be commensurate with Full-Time, parallel years of experience.
    • This job reports to the Building Principal.
    Essential Functions:
    • Attends to and guides individual activities, assignments and/or materials for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing instructional objectives.
    • Assists lead teacher in planning a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
    • Communicates with various school personnel (e.g., lead teacher, supporting teachers) for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing educational objectives.
    • Compiles and maintains various information (e.g., list of student schedules in classroom, assignment sheets) for the purpose of preparing needed reports and documentation.
    • Maintains instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records (e.g., preparing supplies, copying, set-up classroom before/after, hand out/collect papers, sorting and alphabetizing forms, making rosters for events, etc.) for the purpose of performing clerical duties, ensuring availability of items, and/or meeting mandated requirements.
    • Monitors students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments, accommodations and/or modifications (e.g., providing writing assistance, facilitate activities, computer learning programs, etc.) for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing learning concepts and assisting students in reaching instructional goals.
    • Oversees various classroom management duties (e.g., tests, homework, make-up work, data collection, preparation of classroom material, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the instruction process.
    • Participates in training, meetings, and in-service presentations (e.g., first aid, CPR, emergency procedures, classroom management, etc.) for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information related to job functions.
    • Performs general record keeping and clerical functions (e.g., attendance logs, activity reports, etc.) for the purpose of meeting mandated requirements.
    • Provides verbal and/or written feedback of observations for the purpose of informing students, teacher/s and/or parents of students' progress.
    • Reports incidents relating to specific students (e.g., health concerns, accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel and ensuring the safety of students.
    • Responds to emergency situations (e.g., injured student, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to the appropriate personnel for resolution.
    Other Functions:
    • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
    Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:
    Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
    SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; operating standard office equipment; and utilizing pertinent software applications and handling conflicts that arise from students.
    KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: classified personnel practices applied within a school district environment; interpreting contract language; and codes, regulations, and laws related to the job functions.
    ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize job- related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: maintaining confidentiality; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; communicating with diverse groups; working with detailed information and frequent interruptions; and adapting to changing priorities.
    Responsibility
    Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a small work unit; tracking budget expenditures. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the organization’s services.
    Work Environment
    The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 50% sitting, 20% walking, and 30% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
    Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
    Education: Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area.
    Equivalency: Any combination of education, training, and/or experience which demonstrates ability to perform the required duties. A typical qualifying background would include 60 hours college credit or passing score on ParaPro Assessment; previous experience working in classrooms, or a combination of experience and post high school training is desirable.
