Full Time Hourly (Based on Experience) **Required Years of Experience**

**The Pastry Cook must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and assist in the preparation of delicious pastry menu items in the kitchen. They will perform kitchen tasks such as setting up their workstation and ingredients in such a way that food can be prepared according to recipes.**

Supervisor: Chef de Cuisine; Pastry Chef

Employment Classification: Full-time/Non-exempt

**Duties/Responsibilities**

* Attend the weekly cooks meetings

* Specific prep and other tasks are assigned to each pastry cook on a daily sheet

* Check quality of ingredients and measure, assemble, and prepare ingredients to use in baking/cooking

* Follow recipes and use a variety of kitchen equipment to prepare pastry menu items/baked goods

* Understand basic dietary restrictions and how they affect pastry menu items

* Special attention must be paid to items with expiration dates

* In addition to tasks on the daily sheet, all pastry cooks are responsible for packing resourcED boxes in an efficient manner, ensuring that no item is left out and high quality standards are maintained

* Constant communication with chefs is essential, and regular updates on mise en place production, item location, and item quantity are expected throughout each day

* Maintain a clean and orderly work environment in compliance with applicable fire, health, and safety codes, rules, and regulations and COVID-19 protocols at all times

* Perform other job-related duties as assigned

**Requirements**

* Experience in a professional kitchen is a requirement

* Experience working with whole grains is a plus

* Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters

* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

* Works well in a team

* Able to multitask in discrete time periods

* Flexibility of schedule

* Attention to cleanliness and health and safety protocols, including knowledge of applicable fire, health, and safety codes, rules, and regulations and enhanced COVID-19 protocols. A Food Handlers Certificate or ServSafe Certification is welcome but not required

**Physical Demands**

The employee may be exposed to extreme temperatures, dust, dampness, moving machinery, food allergens, and cleaning agents. Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, the employee may be required to work long hours and varying schedules to reflect the business needs, which may include overtime, weekends, and holidays.
