A day in the life

The Sales Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining internal administration of existing accounts, new accounts, and account renewals. This role is responsible for product implementation and maintenance, re-enrollment activities, vendor interaction, research, problem resolution, as well as other administrative and account activities. The Sales Support Specialist acts as a liaison between internal departments and external vendors to ensure accurate client setup and implementation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supports internal departments in retaining and growing existing business and ensure positive relationships are maintained.
  • Acts as a liaison between the system vendor and various internal departments when necessary to resolve complicated client setup situations.
  • Handles client product implementations and collaborates with internal teams with problem resolution.
  • Coordinates and manages the completion, documentation, and data caption of all account requirements for expansion and renewing business to ensure accuracy and adherence to deadlines along with performance guarantees.
  • Participates in the implementation and renewal planning process by providing client setup recommendations, understanding account expectations, and delivering optimal business solutions.
  • Maintains knowledge of insurance products, company policies and procedures, and regulations.
  • Monitors group eligibility reports to ensure accurate setup between vendors.
  • Collaborates with internal staff to identify opportunities to improve client setup and implementation.
  • Participates in cross functional workgroups as needed.

Additional job responsibilities for the Senior Sales Support Specialist will include:

  • Ensures consistent and accurate delivery of product management activities and administration of medical, dental, and pharmacy products.
  • Leads submission of medical, dental, and pharmacy benefit requirements to vendor partners using the appropriate vendor tool.
  • Assists in the evaluation of new benefit proposals and determines the impact on vendor partner product configurations.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert related to the benefit administration of products.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders regarding problem resolution. Brings recommended solution(s) to leadership for final decision and/or forward path for resolution.
  • Provides guidance, trains, and mentors departmental staff, and collaborates with leadership to support strategic goals and streamline work within the team.

What you need to succeed

  • A Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in sales, marketing, account management or related experience for the Sales Support Specialist. The Senior Sales Support Specialist will need at least 5 years of experience.
  • Pays close attention to the details of all work and strives for a high level of accuracy.
  • Understands the structure, workings and culture of the organization.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Shows interests in understanding the needs and expectations of customers.
  • Sets priorities and goals to achieve maximum results from available resources and time.

Equivalent combination of education, experience or training determined to be acceptable by Human Resources may be substituted, unless regulated by contract or program standards
