Description
Summary : The Medical Coordinator, under the supervision of the Residence Manager, will work with the RN of Block Institute programs to ensure quality medical care for individuals diagnosed with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. The Medical Coordinator will track and monitor processes related to the health care of individuals provided in a residential setting as well as provide needed assistance to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in all areas of daily living.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities : include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
• Complete weekly inventory of all medication and ensure all medication is ordered and delivered
•Oversee that the overnight AMAP is doing a weekly medication inventory check
•Check MAR daily for any missing signatures and report findings to RN and Management
•Check all medical charting daily (Bowel Movements, Blood Pressure, Fingersticks)
•Make sure all controlled medications have a count sheet and that all controlled medication is being signed and counted daily
•Check MAR monthly for current prescriptions. There must be a copy of a prescription in the MAR book for each medication prescribed. Monthly prescriptions for controlled meds and six months for all other medications.
•Schedule all appointments in conjunction with the nurse
•Prepare all monthly MAR sheets, making sure all information including medication names, dosages and times are correct
Qualifications

• At least 2 years' experience within an OPWDD residential setting
• Valid Driver's License.
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
• AMAP Certification in good standing
• Strong Oral Computer and Written Skills
• SCIP and CPR Certified
• Commitment to ongoing training
