Job Title: Bartender

Reporting Relationship: Food & Beverage Manager

Primary Accountability:

The bartender ensures the quality of the beverage service for members and their guests in the Topeka Country Club (“TCC”) meets and exceeds expectations. This position is responsible for greeting and seating members and guests, ensuring quality of drinks and service, maintains order and cleanliness and assures TCC member and guest satisfaction standards are consistently attained.

Major Duties:

• Properly greets TCC members and their guests by having knowledge of their names.
• Assists in training bartending and grille room staff on how to provide and maintain exceptional service.
• Ensures that all glassware is polished and free of streaks, odd smells, and meets expectations.
• Organizes staff and properly prepares bar service for member and guest events.
• Provides immediate attention to all TCC members and their guests upon seating.
• Assists with the service of food and beverages, table clearing and table resetting, when necessary.
• Reviews banquet event orders with the Food and Beverage Management Team, when necessary.
• Obtains understanding of cocktails and bar service menu items, preparation styles and drink options available for members and their guests.
• Obtains knowledge of all menu items including information about food and drink preparation, food allergies and dietary supplements available to inform TCC members and their guests.
• Ensures tables, dining room and bus station areas are clean and organized at all times especially towards the end of each work shift.
• Performs cash handling responsibilities, when necessary.
• Responds to the needs and complaints of TCC members and their guests in a timely and professional manner and relays these complaints to the Food & Beverage Management team.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications:

• A High school diploma or GED and prior supervisory experience is preferred.
• At least 3-5 years of work related experience and/or training is required.
• Ability to effectively communicate, present information and respond to questions, both verbal and written.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to organize, multi-task, plan and set priorities with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work independently and in team settings.
• Ability to exercise good judgment with a strong attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
