BLG Logistics is Hiring a Team Member 1 (LC-Vance) Near Vance, AL

Job title: Team Member (Heavy Lifter/Sequencer)

Department: Operations

Location: BLG Logistics, Inc.

Reports to: Team Leader / Group Leader

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

1. Summary:

The following job description is for BLG Team Members. The operation consists of various areas. Each operating area has similar essential duties and responsibilities which are outlined in the next paragraph. Team Members will not necessarily have all of the duties and responsibilities on their first day; however, it is BLG Logistics, Inc.’s goal to cross train Team Member in as many areas of the Operation as possible. Starting off pay $14.00.

2. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Following general company policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
  2. Operate within work instructions.
  3. Loading and unloading of trucks, order picking, repacking, packing, sequencing, labeling shipping and receiving.
  4. Perform preventive maintenance (TPM) on shipping totes, racks etc.
  5. Maintains delivery vehicles/equipment (e.g. checking fluid levels, fueling, cleaning, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safe operation of the vehicle/equipment.
  6. Communicate with operators from other shifts.
  7. Cleans operating facility for the purpose of maintaining a safe and sanitary work area. (5S)
  8. Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
  9. Move waste from work areas to dumpsters.
  10. Drives vehicles (e.g. truck, van, forklift, etc.) for the purpose of transporting orders and materials to designated areas. The Team Member transports a variety of items (e.g. records/files, supplies, equipment, materials, testing materials, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or delivering materials as required.
  11. Responsible for quality control. No damaged product is sent out. No damaged material is accepted in.
  12. Package finished product for shipping (shrink wrapping, boxing, labeling).
  13. Stage finished product for loading.
  14. Loads and unloads delivery trucks for the purpose of receiving stock and/or filling orders for transport. Move materials to warehouse storage.
  15. Participates physical inventories for the purpose of verifying stock and identifying losses.
  16. Team Member responds to Team Leader (and or management) for the purpose of providing information and/or direction regarding the status of deliveries, etc.
  17. Maintains documents, files and records (e.g. tracking on line shipping, equipment transfer forms, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, and providing materials and reliable resource information.
  18. Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  19. Mandatory Overtime with or without advance notification

3. Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

4. Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 5. Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

6. Skills and Knowledge:

Skills are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include adhering to safety practices; operating equipment used in warehouse operations; operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records. Knowledge is required to perform basic math; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes basic computer use, basic vehicle maintenance, and safety practices and procedures.

7. Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. The Team Member must have the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

8. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Forklift operating license is preferred but on the job training is available.

9. Requirements:

  1. Must be able to work assigned schedule.
  2. Must have a reliable means of transportation.
  3. Must Wear PPE at all times. (Safety Vest, Steel Toe Boots)
  4. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with crane assist.
  5. Ability to stand for a long period.
  6. Ability to train and follow processes.

11. Physical Demands:

The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to perform overhead work. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

12. Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
