Overview:

Blackbird is New Canaan's newest hip and upscale concept serving global cuisine and small plates including sushi! We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our team. As the Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for executing a small menu of visually appealing sushi dishes. If you have a strong culinary background and a passion for Japanese cuisine, we would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and create a variety of sushi dishes according to customer preferences and menu specifications

- Ensure the quality and freshness of ingredients used in sushi preparation

- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station

- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and timely food service

- Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines in food preparation and handling

- Assist with menu planning, including suggesting new sushi creations

- Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries and special requests

Experience:

- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role in a restaurant or catering setting

- Extensive knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, including knife skills and presentation

- Strong understanding of food safety regulations and best practices

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
