Blüm Santa Ana is Hiring a Payroll Manager Near Downey, CA

Under the direct supervision of the Controller, this position is responsible for overseeing the processing of payroll, investigating and resolving payroll issues and ensuring compliance is maintained with company and regulatory standards, monthly workers compensation premiums, managing data quality, communications of payroll policies and processes to various teams. Additionally, this position will ensure submission of ACA, quarterly tax filings, and annual W2s, and the continued development of the payroll process system.

Resource and Process

  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute Company programs including but not limited to compensation, performance, and talent management.
  • Direct the collection, computing, and documentation of payroll data.
  • Supervise and assign tasks to the payroll team.
  • Collaborate with Managers to process position rate changes, tip structure management, reviewing hours worked, understand staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies, including the assessment of candidate qualifications.
  • Participate in and maintain detailed records for auditing.
  • Perform company and legal requirements including but limited to, employee garnishments, annual wage changes, tax rate changes, year-end payroll requirements, and ACA reporting.

Payroll Processing

  • Perform pre-processing tasks including but not limited to, gathering information on hours worked, calculating overtime, deductions, tips, bonuses, commissions, expenses, bereavement, meal break penalties, and time off request.
  • Enter and maintain accurate data in payroll and administrative databases and software programs including but not limited to, GL accounts, pay codes, and deduction codes.
  • Processing of payroll using company process and software programs.
  • Address, respond, and resolve payroll-related issues and questions regarding payroll from employees.
  • Preparing financial reports, periodic payroll reports, and annual payroll reports for management, and the accounting department.
  • Calculating and drafting employee final wages and submitting to accounting department to be processed.
  • Provide support with Benefits Enrollment, including the onboarding and terminating of participants.

Compliance

  • In partnership with the Director of People, maintains compliance with federal, state and local tax and wage laws and regulations, recommends best practice; and reviews policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in payroll process, and tax and wage law.
  • Works closely with our accounting team to assist in quarterly, and year-end activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or finance.
  • Two years of experience in a payroll management role, with previous experience in general payroll processing and human resources responsibilities.
  • Strong interest in, and knowledge of tax and wage Laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Provide problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Payroll, HRIS, Task Management, and Project Management software.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.

Location:

  • This is an on-site role, located at our corporate office in Downey, CA and is not approved for hybrid or telecommuting / remote work.
