Bishop Dunne Catholic School is Hiring a 2024 - 2025 Computer Science Teacher - High School Near Dallas, TX

High School

Bishop Dunne Catholic School is seeking an experienced high school Computer Science and Innovative Technologies Teacher who can teach a variety of technology courses, including gaming, web design, robotics, graphics and animation, and AP computer science principles. Opportunities for eSports coaching also available. The position will be for the 2024-2025 academic year, starting August 2024.

Bishop Dunne is the only Catholic diocesan school that enrolls students in grades six through twelve. The Bishop Dunne student body mirrors the diversity of Dallas, with over 75% identifying as students of color, and approximately half the students are Catholic.

Job Requirements:
The candidate will be a dedicated professional who understands the joys and demands of teaching and is experienced as a mentor and master teacher. Teachers are expected to develop daily lessons that meet the goals of the classes, complete grading, maintain an advisory group and lead advisory group meetings, as well as perform all basic administrative duties (ex. maintain attendance records, accurate grade book, comment writing).

Education/Experience Requirements:
Qualifications include: An undergraduate degree in computer science or related field from an accredited university, with at least 12 credits in education. A valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the subject and level assigned is preferred. The candidate must have strong interpersonal communications skills and solid technology skills for use in instructional and professional tasks. The ideal candidate will have experience and/or certifications in the following:
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Unity and Unity VR for Education
  • AP Computer Science Principles (APSI or Reader experience a plus)

Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., after school hours as required

General Duties:
The mission of the Catholic school is to “Teach as Jesus did,” thereby mandating teachers in our schools to be reflections of Christ’s love and concern. The Classroom Teacher plans, guides, and evaluates the learning process of students. This position reports to the assistant principal and has decision-making responsibilities within the framework of school policies, philosophy, organization, and curriculum. All candidates must be able to pass background checks and comply with the Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment Program. Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
