Warehouse Clerk/Material Receiver

Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Warehouse Manager

Summary

Receiving, stocking, pulling, packing, shipping, and delivering material. Meet the requirements of the customer. Primary duties include daily activities to control inventory. This includes receiving, stocking, issuing materials to customer orders, completing cycle counts and other physical inventory measures. Data entry will also be performed. 

Essential Functions/Duties

  1. Perform all duties in conformance to company policy and quality system procedures.
  2. Respond to customers’ needs, consistent with Quality and Corporate standards, culture, and business practices. 
  3. Materials handling duties include receipt, storage, pulling, packaging, inspecting and shipment or delivery of various stock in accordance with established procedures or regulatory guidance. 
  4. Hands on Receiving, loading, unloading, checking, lifting and moving materials for many in warehouse and off site. 
  5. Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment. 
  6. Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to quality. 
  7. Ensure that each item is correctly labeled and stored. 
  8. Perform work in a warehouse or open storage area. ▪ May use automated equipment such as computer terminals, bar code wands, and laser scanning equipment to read, store, query, route, and track data. 
  9. Process and track order shipments.
  10. Maintain Inventory Control.
  11. Count inventory by hand or by weight. 
  12. Maintain inventory traceability.
  13. Measure inventory levels in bins either visually or with electronic equipment 
  14. In Vendor Managed Inventory sites collect data to create customer order in system and replenish bins as necessary.
  15. Work directly with the employees on the production line at Vendor Managed Inventory sites to assist in meeting the needs of the customer. 
  16. Keep work area clean, neat, and free of foreign object debris (FOD).
  17. Be able to identify parts visually. 
  18. Learn part numbers and descriptions.
  19. Operate computer and maintain skills (preferably in Word and Excel) for data entry HR-JD-09 Job Description Rev. E purposes. 
  20. Maintain proficiency in operating equipment such as scales and forklift.
  21. Be familiar with the day-to-day operation and documentation. 
  22. Learn how to use the Warehouse functions in P-21 and parts scanners. 
  23. Perform inventory cycle counts. 
  24. Check stock levels, communicate to assist in the prevention of stock outs. 
  25. Perform routine maintenance in warehouse and on warehouse equipment to ensure safety. 
  26. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. 
  27. Exhibit a positive work attitude.
  28. Take direction from others. 
  29. Perform other duties as required.

  3. Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  4. Ability to work effectively with or without direct supervision as well as independently or in a team environment.
  5. Ability to prioritize and work with accuracy under stress.
  6. Proficiency in the use of a PC/Laptop including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other position relevant software applications.
  7. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  8. Experience using Bar code scanner preferred. Experienced in using multi-line phone system, copier, scanner, and fax machines. Must be an advanced user of Microsoft Office Programs, including excel.
  9. Must be able to make basic mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, conversion of fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions. Must understand and be able to convert units of measure. Must have working knowledge of calculator.
  10. Must have clerical skills including organizational skills, filing ability, documentation control, checking, and coding.
  11. Must be detail oriented, organized, and be able to use logic and reasoning.

Physical/Cognitive Demands

This is a physically active role including walking long distances (over uneven surfaces) to/within our production facility at times, lifting 50lbs or more, and standing for long periods. Position also requires bending, stooping, squatting, or standing as necessary. Cognitive abilities required include deductive reasoning, information ordering, oral comprehension, oral expression, problem sensitivity, written comprehension, and written expression.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. The hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Evening and weekend work will be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience

  1. High School Diploma or Equivalent
  2. 1 year experience in a similar position
  3. Forklift certification preferred but not required.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Bilingual English/Spanish language skills is a plus.
