Position Summary

The Lead Facilities and Maintenance Technician facilitates the installation, repair and maintenance of production-, laboratory- and utility equipment to ensure it remains in a reliable, compliant and safe state of operation. Organizational skills and the ability to coordinate the daily workload within the Maintenance Team are required. A solid understanding of calibration management, safety requirements and experience using computerized maintenance management systems are essential to this position.

The incumbent will work closely with a small team of engineers, technicians and scientists and will have fundamental knowledge of GMP requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that preventive maintenance is performed according to manufacturer’s requirements and internal Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Scheduling maintenance and calibration of lab equipment, production equipment and utilities to ensure reliable operation.
  • Planning and coordinating internal- and external resources needed for the execution of work orders.
  • Providing guidance and instruction to a team of technicians as needed to complete assignments.
  • Overseeing the work activities of a team of technicians and performing assignments which are recognized as the most complex.
  • Maintaining the calibration program and providing subject matter expertise for calibration related topics.
  • Mobilization of contractors and supervision of contractor work performed on premises.
  • Maintaining equipment and instrumentation data in the computerized maintenance management system up to date to monitor and track equipment maintenance and calibrations.
  • Formal documentation and closeout of work orders in accordance to cGMP requirements.
  • Providing input to commissioning, qualification and validation documents and supporting the execution effort as needed.
  • Archiving equipment related GMP records in the according file folder and electronic data storage system.
  • Supporting the integration of new technologies and new products.
  • Installation and maintenance of production, laboratory and plant utility equipment.
  • Completion of emergency repairs which may occur after hours.
  • Application of technical abilities such as mechanical-, electrical-, pneumatic-, hydraulic-, troubleshooting- and repair skills.
  • Reading and interpretation of equipment manuals, drawings, electrical diagrams, P&IDs and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnosing problems and replacement or repair of parts.
  • Testing the equipment and making sure it is adjusted to operate according to specification.
  • Performing a variety of plumbing, maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Use of a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment.
  • Complying with safety regulations and maintaining clean and orderly work areas.
  • Preparation of sketches and drawings.
  • Issuing work orders and purchase requests to contractors.
  • Supporting the development, fabrication and assembly of new or modified mechanical components.
  • Supporting customer departments with new tooling design and process support.
  • Coordination of bio-waste pickups in conjunction with the supply chain department. Ensuring required documentation is filed as required.
  • Ensuring the facility is kept in compliance to GMP requirements.
  • Supporting improvement initiatives.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Position Expertise/Qualifications

Associates Mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance - Required

Minimum Years of Experience

5 years mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance experience preferably in a GMP regulated environment - Required

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills with the ability to handle multiple projects
  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English
  • Computer Proficiency – Microsoft Office 365 applications, Computerized Monitoring System, Computerized Maintenance Management System, Calibration Management System.
