bioMérieux is Hiring a Facilities Manager Near San Jose, CA

The estimated salary range for this role based in California is between $114,800 and $137,800 annually. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux’s bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.

This is the job for you if you have strong project management skills; like focusing on the details to ensure things are done right and enjoy problem solving. Success in the role relies on working collaboratively with a team, and skilled management of contractors and service providers. There will be many requests from internal team members, the job requires adept management to prioritize and execute against a plan. Your customers include manufacturing, R&D and other functional teams that require smooth operation of our facilities.  
Importantly, we expect to expand, a key part of this job will be planning, assisting with design, and management of construction of new facilities (labs, clean rooms, manufacturing areas, office space, conference rooms, ...) in both our existing building and a new building.  

You are experienced providing a full range of facilities services.You know what is needed to create a new facility and maintain existing facilities. You are a great teammate, collaborative, and can function as partner with the leaders of manufacturing and R&D teams. We are a growing business you must be receptive to change and ready to adapt to changing circumstances. You can deal with a variety of situations requiring independent action, judgement, and initiative.  

PRIMARY DUTIES  

  • Monitor, operate, maintain and troubleshoot building automation systems to ensure proper function.
  • Managing construction projects including electrical, HVAC, security, equipment and other general construction activities
  • Oversee scheduled and unscheduled repairs of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, lighting, electrical, and life safety systems.
  • Ensure all safety and environmental code compliance and accountability preparation activities related to the all-applicable safety equipment and green facility initiatives
  • Collect utility data and track energy consumption for green house gas emissions, and support or execute HSE initiatives related to facility.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on systems and equipment.
  • Manage security access through badging and key management.
  • Respond to emergency situations as directed or requested by personnel.
  • Procuring facility related equipment, managing contractors, analyzing and recommending the most quality and cost-effective approach to support operations.
  • Developing and executing policies, procedures, programs, and budgets to assure effective maintenance of all facilities and equipment.
  • Participate in the preparation of construction capital needs and budgets.
  • Support proper environmental services for chemical, biological and other waste management.
  • Develop, document, and implement facilities repairs and maintenance guidelines.
  • Manage the daily operations concerning facility maintenance, equipment maintenance, and landlord/property management interactions.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS  

  1. Bachelor's degree. Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in a manufacturing environment will be considered in lieu of education requirements (and/or a combination of education and experience) 
  2. Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a similar role in facility management and within a corporate, customer-centric environment.
  3. Effective problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  4. Project management experience. Results and detail oriented and with judgement to understand limitations and know when to escalate the issue.
  5. Basic skills in CAD and Microsoft Office applications.
  6. General knowledge of various construction trades.
  7. Knowledge of the "Occupational Health and Safety Act" and compliance with codes.
  8. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both oral and written, with all levels within the company.
  9. Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships.
  10. Excellent critical thinking, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
  11. Work within an environment that is subject to moderate to high levels of stress in emergency
