Position Summary:

The Stem Cell and Gene Therapy Scientist will be part of a team responsible for the design and development of novel products used in cell and gene therapy workflows. These products include tools for expansion, differentiation, and characterization of stem cell derived models. Experience culturing stem cells (e.g. iPSC, ESC, MSC or adult stem cells) are required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in pluripotent stem cell culture, 3D cell culture (e.g. spheroids or organoids), matrices, and/or biomaterials (e.g. hydrogels). Desirable skills and techniques include 2D and 3D cell culture and bioassays, immunostaining, flow cytometry analysis, and data analytics such as machine learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and carry out experiments and tests leading to the development and release of new cell culture/cell therapy-related products.
• Identify and determine critical products needed in the cell culture/cell therapy/stem cell research areas.
• Discuss findings with R&D manager and provide recommendations for future experimentation.
• Survey current literature to keep up with scientific findings and technical matters related to cell therapy and cell culture.
• Participate in product development roadmap analysis.
• Provide laboratory and other support for existing products.
• Work across functional groups to successfully complete product development.
• Represent Bio-Techne at professional meetings.
• Maintain accurate experimental records and assist in the generation of Manufacturing and Quality Control SOPs for RUO and GMP products.
• Communicate effectively in written and verbal communications including presentations and official product documentation.
• Assist marketing and technical service groups in the promotion and service of Cell Culture/Cell Therapy products. Ensure that communication from these groups is scientifically accurate.
• Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Quality Handbook and follows guidelines regarding safety as outlined in the AWAIR, Chemical Hygiene and Exposure Control manuals in accordance with the position.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Requires a Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Immunology or related field.
• Minimum of 0 to 4 years of post-doctoral independent research experience with demonstrated research productivity required.
• Experience in pluripotent stem cells, cell culture media development and/or extracellular matrices.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Work successfully both independently and in a collaborative team environment
• Maintain awareness of latest developments and methodologies in scientific literature
• Define problems, collect and analyze data, and draw valid conclusions
• Effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks effectively
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
