The Patient Financial ServicesLead provides leadership to one or more areas within Patient Financial Servicesto include billing & EDI, claims, data entry and/or operations. Acts as aresource to staff responding to procedural questions and assistance withproblem resolution and provides coverage for staff absences and vacancies. Thisposition assists and supports the management in coordinating day to dayoperational needs of the department, orienting staff, providing training staff(both new and ongoing training), and provides input into interviewing, hiring,performance appraisal and disciplinary processes. The Patient Financial Services Lead, incooperation with management ensures compliance to contract, agreements,arrangements, and government policies and procedures. The Patient FinancialServices Lead is responsible for performing the same daily job tasks as thosethey are leading and is responsible for the financial interests of theorganization by assisting in the interpretation of payer regulations, and verifyingpayments and adjustments are appropriately applied to accounts based ongovernment, contract, and other regulations.
Essential Job Functions
• Supports and models behaviorsconsistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic anddepartment/service.
• Acts as a resource within one ormore of the areas within Patient Financial Services (billing & EDI, claims,data entry and/or operations) to staff responding to procedural questions andassistance with problem resolution. Participates in determining work prioritiesand assigns works to staff.
• Ensures adherence to regulatoryrequirements as defined by government agencies and other third-party payers.
• Assists and supports supervisorand manager in coordinating day to day operational activities within theassigned area(s) and ensuring adherence to quality and production standardswhich support the efficient and effective management of the revenue cycle.
• In conjunction with supervisorystaff, reviews and analyzes contracts, agreements, and government regulationsto ensure compliance. Participates in development of policy, procedures, anddocumentation.
• Prepares reports on the status andefficiency of the assigned area(s) utilizing various reporting tools includingreport writers and query. Reports and analysis may be essential for seniormanagement decision making.
• Participates in orientation andtraining of new staff and ongoing training and education of existing staff.Responsible for maintaining procedure and policy documentation utilized fortraining and as an ongoing reference.
• Provides input into theinterviewing, hiring, performance appraisals, coaching/counseling and/or disciplinaryprocesses.
• Utilizes performance improvementprinciples to assess and improve quality, and workflow processes.
• Identifies needs and sets goalsfor own growth and development; meets mandatory organizational and departmentalrequirements.
• Maintains competency in allorganizational, departmental, and outside agency environmental, employee orpatient safety standards relevant to job performance.
• Performs other duties asassigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
• High school graduate or equivalent
Experience
• Two (2) years of patient accounts orinsurance billing related experience
