The Anesthesia Manager works closely with the Anesthesia Department Chair, OR Business Manager, Director of Surgical Services and multidisciplinary teams developing, implementing, and evaluating standards of care, practice, and systems within the anesthesia coverage areas. The Anesthesia Manager provides leadership for the Anesthesia Department and oversees the daily operational activities.

Essential Job Functions

Collects, reviews, and analyzes information for evaluating patient care outcomes.
Facilitates in designing the registry to facilitate performance improvement activities, trend reports, and research while protecting confidentiality.
Identifies multidisciplinary opportunities for improvement in a timely manner and assists team members with problem resolution through plan development, implementation, and evaluation.
Monitors quality, continuity of care, clinical outcomes and system issues related to care delivery, developing quality filters, audits, and case reviews, identifying trends and sentinel events, and helping to outline remedial actions while maintaining confidentiality.
Works with Anesthesia Medical Directors to develop and evaluate evidence-based guidelines, pathways, and protocols to reduce inappropriate variation in care.
Participates in research selection, analysis, and distribution of findings, and facilitates protocol design for accurate data collection, feedback, and analysis.
Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
Maintain a detailed knowledge of the OR information system’s functionality and structure. Understands the implications of the data and how the data is utilized. Participates in maintaining the integrity of the system data. Develops and maintains records and files in an organized manner.
Daily review, assignments, and coordination of anesthesia providers.
Designs and produces documents, forms, reports and data graphs for projects and programs based on needs identified by the staff and/or leadership. Duties include data gathering, database extractions, and data analysis for various projects and preparation of a variety of reports and data graphs requiring independent judgment with minimal supervision.
Performs analyses of existing operations, new business opportunities and service line data. Provides appropriate monitoring for all areas for early identification/detection of potential problems and alerting the leadership team of such and provides recommendations for resolution or minimizing impact.
Provides value analysis support, data collection support for quality improvement initiatives, manages business and financial projects as assigned.
Responsible for leading the preparation and on-going analysis of annual operating and capital budgets and will be held jointly responsible for meeting financial targets and operational goals.
Assists in developing and evaluating written policies and procedures pertinent to the program.
Participates in professional organization activities.
Promotes cost effective behavior in staff throughout the continuum of care.
