As a professional consulting firm in the A/E/C industry, BG's primary focus is based on the engineering principles in designing building systems across several market sectors.

Mission
The mission of this position is to drive BG’s top line (new projects) and bottom line (revenue) success by managing individual projects to achieve project goals and by developing and strengthening client relationships.

This primary accountability of this position is to deliver excellent technical service through thorough and proactive communication and management of the design process, resulting in successful client experience and the internal project team’s experience. The position is also accountable for supporting and fostering BG’s staff development through time management and mentoring of the design process.

Mechanical Knowledge and Accountability

Project Managers with a Mechanical emphasis may be responsible for the holistic design and specification of building HVAC systems, plumbing systems, mechanical control systems, energy calculations, applicable codes and standards, sustainable construction practices, and connection and impact coordination with other building systems. Mechanical PMs will also be well-versed in general knowledge of other building systems (electrical/lighting, technology, structural, fire/life safety), architectural design and programming, design methodology, and construction methods and processes.

This primary accountability of this position is to deliver excellent service through thorough and proactive communication and management of the project process to enhance both the client experience and the internal project team’s experience. The position is also accountable for supporting and fostering BG’s staff development through time management and mentoring of the delivery process.

Job Description

Responsible for making independent decisions on engineering problems and methods. Requires the use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories and practices of the field. Supervision and guidance related largely to overall objectives or phases and tasks within large projects as well as supervision, coordination and review of the work of project engineers and technicians.

Primary Collaborative Team

Operationally, this position is part of each project and reports to the project’s Project Manager. This position collaborates closely with a broad group including the individual project team members, the project manager, and the production team to provide a consistent quality and delivery process to our clients.

Experience Profile

  • 7 years of mechanical engineering, design, and consulting specifically associated with building HVAC and Plumbing systems, including recent experience with system conceptual development, system design completion and execution, and leadership of project-based mechanical design teams from 3-10 members
  • Licensed PE required
  • Thorough understanding of, and experience in, BG’s technical services and market sectors.
  • General understanding of all BG services.
  • Experience in customer-facing discussions around delivering this service.
  • Track record of delivering successful projects (client satisfaction)
  • General understanding of BG’s design tools, software and production methods.

Job Requirements

Beyond an applicable degree from an accredited higher education institution, BG evaluates each candidate based on multiple factors including but not limited to practical knowledge, industry-related certifications and/or licensure, years of experience, and personal and professional skills and competencies.
