Job Description

As a professional consulting firm in the A/E/C industry, BG’s primary focus is based on engineering principles in designing building systems across several market sectors.

Engineers with mechanical emphasis may provide support for the design and specification of building HVAC systems, plumbing systems, mechanical control systems, energy calculations, applicable code and standards, sustainable construction practices, and connection and impact coordination with other building systems.

Mission

The mission of this position is to drive BG’s success by supporting successful projects that achieve project goals for our clients.

The primary accountability of this position is to assist in delivering a coordinated and integrated design through thorough proactive communication with the internal and external design teams. The position is a key discipline team member and will support the project lead engineer with the development of our design deliverables as well as supporting select construction phase tasks and activities by performing engineering calculations, modeling/drawing design solutions, and interacting with internal and external project team members.

Primary Collaborative Team

Operationally, this position is part of a project design team and reports to the project manager, senior designers and engineers, and the service leader of their discipline. This position collaborates closely with a broad group including project team members, other project managers, senior project managers, business unit leaders, Principal in Charge, service leaders and the accounting team to provide a consistent quality and delivery process to our clients.

Experience Profile

  • Education in, and familiarity with, the engineering concept applications in this field.
  • Basic familiarity with the construction process.
  • General understanding of all BG services.
  • Some experience in customer-facing service work.
  • Experience working in teams of 3 to 10.
  • Familiarity with BG’s design tools and software related to the application of engineering concepts in this discipline, drafting methods and BIM models.

Job Requirements

College Degree in this discipline, i.e. BSARE, BSEE, BSME; EIT or PE certification

Beyond an applicable degree from an accredited higher education institution, BG evaluates each candidate based on multiple factors including but not limited to practical knowledge, industry-related certifications and/or licensure, years of experience, and personal and professional skills and competencies.
