Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in supporting our veterinarians and veterinary technicians with the day-to-day care of pets at our facility. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare, possess excellent communication skills, and be eager to contribute to a positive and effective team environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in medical procedures and treatments.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately during examinations and procedures.
• Prepare and maintain the cleanliness of exam rooms, surgical areas, and animal holding areas.
• Provide basic care to pets, including feeding, watering, and walking animals as needed.
• Administer medications and vaccines under the direction of a veterinarian.
• Assist with the collection of samples such as blood, urine, or tissue for testing.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
• Communicate effectively with pet owners, providing updates on their pet's status and care instructions upon discharge.
• Participate in client education on various aspects of pet health.
• Assist with inventory management and the ordering of medical supplies.
• Follow all safety and sanitation policies to ensure a clean and safe environment for all pets and staff.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to restrain larger pets safely.
• Basic understanding of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and some holidays as required.

Pay: $16.34 - $20.24 per hour
