A Better Opportunity

The Manager of FP&A will be responsible for providing financial decision support and partnership to Better’s business. This support spans many areas including forecasting and reporting (FP&A), resource allocation, business case support and strategic planning. As Manager of FP&A, you will be involved in the overall financial strategy and operating needs, create financial reports to review with cross-functional leaders to help them manage their budgets, refine their estimates, and create scalable KPIs. This position will require significant interaction with the senior leadership team, and other non-financial personnel. 

The ideal candidate is someone who brings instant credibility because of their accomplishments. They must be able to address technical and business questions and have the interpersonal skills to persuade or gain acceptance at a very senior level.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the Financial Model, Budgeting & Forecasting, and profitability
  • Lead the financial planning processes and development of annual and quarterly operating plans
  • Create efficient and sustainable key-driver based financial forecasting models and processes
  • Work closely with accounting team to develop a comprehensive and dynamic management reporting cadence that gives Executive Leadership Team and cross-functional leadership stakeholders with actionable insights into business performance vs. plan and forecast
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of strategic initiatives and alternatives, market outlooks, and enterprise value drivers.
  • Define leading performance indicators and partner with the Analytics team to develop dynamic dashboards which provide real-time, actionable business insights
  • Lead financial modeling in support of M&A activity, and partner on integration activities on an as-needed basis
  • Develop and implement a financial operating rhythm, seamlessly integrating strategic planning, annual planning and forecasting, and month-end activities into the broader Better operating rhythm
  • Develop financial content and presentations in support of Board and key leadership meetings
  • Establish strong, collaborative partnerships and effectively communicate with Executives and a diverse range of cross-functional leaders
Qualifications
  • Must be a demonstrated leader
  • Minimum of 5-years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience. MBA preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with US GAAP
  • Systems – Microsoft excel fluency required, NetSuite systems experience preferable
  • Public company FP&A experience preferred, but not required
  • Mortgage experience preferred, but not required
  • Required ability to think in compliant, out of the box ways to accomplish business goals
  • Advanced financial modeling capabilities and acumen, and fluent in all financial statements. Able to easily navigate large sets of data to drive to key business insights
  • Excellent and creative written and oral communicator. Able to communicate across multiple business lines within the organization, and convey complex financial information in imaginative, easy to understand ways
  • Entrepreneurial, self-starter mindset. Natural curiosity to understand and possesses a desire to continuously improve
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and can effectively lead and implement change.
  • Ability to anticipate cause and effect, and make quick decisions
  • Impeccable organization skills, and ability to properly prioritize and deliver on multiple projects at the same time
  • Able to communicate across multiple bands within the organization, and convey complex financial information in imaginative, easy to understand ways
  • Practical, results-oriented team builder with superior analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage through distractions, perform with changing priorities and aggressive deadlines
